Hi everyone. I just want to ask for advice or at least point me to the right direction.

My partner (he's a Filipino as well) is going to the UK next September. He's going to be working as a nurse in West Sussex. Over the past few months we discussed the possibility of me of me also going to the UK and hopefully land a job there. However, unlike him I am only a graduate of Nursing and have not taken the Philippine Licensure Exam yet.

We searched online and found some job openings for live in caregivers and decided to at least inquire as to how the process of application goes. We sent a bunch of emails to a lot of them and most of the replies we got were positive. One company even expressed the interest of interviewing me through Skype. However, there was one thing that all of the replies had in common -- they all asked me if I had the "Right to Work Documents" in hand.

Right now we have no idea what these Right to Work Documents are. My partner doesn't know it either since his application was processed by an agency and he only did what he was told and to get the required documents as instructed by the agency. His application was sort of easy since it was well facilitated by an agency. I on the other hand would need to look for a job on my own as I could not find any agency here that offers a care giving job in the UK.

Right now we are determined to gather these documents, we've done research about these but we just ended up with complicated explanations. So we'd rather at least ask people who knows what to do or at least point us in the right direction.

Right now, I am in Cebu. Can someone here tell me where I should go to ask how I can get these Right to Work Documents? Thank you in advance.

Nurses are in demand but care-givers are not. I suggest that you concentrate on becoming a Registered Nurse whereupon you can apply for a Tier 2 Visa.

Thats not accurate Mark if Maria can come with her Spouse she will find plenty of work in that sector

Is it a Tier 2 visa your hubby has?

What you say is absolutely true, Keith, but what you suggest may not, I think, be in Maria's best interest long term. She currently holds a degree in nursing but is unable to work as a nurse because she hasn't (yet) taken and passed her Licensing Board Exams: these she has to take and pass (in the Philippines) before she can call herself a registered nurse and I believe that process is achievable within a few months. My point is that if she waits and obtains her License she will can apply for a "real" nursing position in her own right with its higher rate of pay, better conditions and very possibly with the same employer as her partner. But I agree, your suggestion would work if there's no prospect of her being able to apply for a Tier 2.

I was responding to what Maria was asking rather than any opinion on it:)
