Historically area of citizenship has been complicated. Parents marriage certificate for children born before 2006 has been a requirement.

In your case with children born after 2006 the parents marriage certificate is not an issue. Would make it a bit easier in terms of accepting birth certificates but don't believe it will be an issue.

If you have the marriage certificate, send it (original).

My wife and I were not married until 2 months after the birth of our son (and I was not present at the birth), but my wife did ask the hospital to delay issuing the birth certificate until my name had been added to it (and my signature).

It definitely smooths the process if the British father of the child is named in this way.... married or not.

Graham, sorry to ask so much question I really need the help of this forum.

My partner has original british birth certificate and certified British birth certificate too. In our case for the children, is it OK to provide the document photocopy on both application?

    Hi Mariagail.

I wouldn't dare to advise on such an important matter, as I have no experience of applying for R.O.A. Sorry about that, BUT the real and correct information/answers you need are on the British government websites. They will tell what documents are required, and whether or not they need to be originals (and I would think they DO) Most of them can be contacted through the Skype phone app too, either free or at small cost. You could also try emailing them . Good luck !

No. All documents provided must be originals. You will also need to provide an original (or certified copy) of YOUR marriage Certificate, your medical (Ob/Gynae) files detailing your pregnancies complete with ultrasound foetal scans, the hospital records regarding your children's birth(s), their PSA Birth Certificates, their Philippine Passports and photographs of you, your husband and children taken at regular (monthly) intervals from the date of birth to present day. A copy of your Cenomar may also be required. You and your husband will additionally need to
prove that you were together at the same place at the time of conception.

The documentary requirements for child's first passport and ROA are very similar and a child's first passport has to be applied for outside the UK (that would normally be in the country of birth). Applying for ROAs when you are planning to settle in the UK is not a good idea.

We printed lots of photos from birth to present. But it's difficult to obtain ob gyne record of scan ultrasound as it was 8 years and 4 years ago.

Then you will have real problems: full Ob/Gynae records with scans are required.

Just supply what you (reasonably) can, given the situation and the ages of the children.

If you speak to the Passport Office, they may approve through interviews, and DNA test (extra cost there of course), along with the certificates and other evidence you CAN provide .

They need to be sure that the children are your British partner's, that's all.... one way or another. They DO have some discretion, and some flexibility as to your 'proofs'.

Good luck, and yeah indeed there are so many requirements when getting your first British passport in the Philippines.

I'm Filipino-British by descent, and I did have a child passport but lost it when I was young.
I had to reapply for an adult passport in the Philippines and it took me a year to get mine.

I attended two interviews at the British Embassy in Manila and sent so many documents.

Anyway, the good thing is I got there in the end and have now been in the UK for the last three years with a good job and all that.

    Good luck!
