While eating from the Street Food "stall" at the Trafford Centre last night, we noticed a huge queue for Nandos. I said to Mrs Ash, the food must be bloody good in there. It seems very popular. Tonight, we decided to eat at Nandos, bearing in mind Doms recommendation some months ago. Though not in the Trafford Centre, but in a branch of Nandos in the shadow of the great Macron Stadium I thought it might be quieter out in the leafy suburbs of Bolton, but no, again there was a queue to get in. I spoke to the people at the door and said that it must be bloody good food here to which the reply, with a grin, was "Its chicken and chips mate!" . So, having come this far, again with Doms recommendation in my ears we stuck with it and waited for a seat. Inside it was packed and buzzin! Sure enough, looking at the menu, it was a choice of grilled chicken, grilled chicken or grilled chicken. Having made up our minds we were going for the chicken, we sat for a while. And another while and a bit more before I called the waitress over. Turns out its self service! LOL. Biggest surprise of the night, was that Mrs Ash, who ordered grilled chicken thighs with spicy rice loved it. So in that sense it was a winner.
Never understood the lure of Nandos, I ate at one in Hull for the first time around a year ago and have not been to one since, we much prefer Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese and good old English food. Its like you said, they always seem to be busy, I don't understand why as the food is nothing special Just been told off the loved one that we ate in a Nandos only a few weeks in Edinburgh with her relations, I told you it is pretty uneventful going to Nandos
The missus constantly asks to go Nandos, I mean all the time. An African/potuguese theme. I personally don't think its worth the money but I'm not the boss
Yes. My wife immediately said she wanted to go again. Must be the way they grill the chicken or something.
Been in one twice, not bothering again. Personally think thereis better out there for the same sort of money
Here's the thread that motivated me to take the missus. (Again, this morning she said she enjoyed the food and the way the chicken was grilled) http://www.british-filipino.com/index.php?threads/rice-and-tampopo.8945/#post-52950
Well. Should be on the UK mainland in a week or so. The first thing my wife said was she wanted to visit Nando's.
It seems some people love em and some hate them, I don't like any restaurant where you have to go to the counter yourself and order food and drink, I've been twice to Nandos because of the company I've been in and not enjoyed the food or atmosphere. But like John says, they to appeal to a lot of people which is good. You cant please everyone all the time as the saying goes.
Its a strange one, like you I know lots of people who think Nandos is the bees knees, maybe we just haven't got it yet
