S**t like this usually brings the authorities to move the goalposts even further than usual.

Let's hope that the new measures, which will be eventually introduced, don't affect the arrival of future genuine spouses.

I don't understand. I am sure my wife had to present her passport for her Life in the UK Test. And for her test at Hopkins before she applied for her Spouse visa.

A work colleague was telling me how secure the system was that she went through to take her ESOL test the other day.

The government needs to ensure that the test providers are bona fide and operating on a genuine and ethical footing. I thought that was why they went through a period of culling and streamlining a couple of years ago, leading to a limited and strict government approved list.

Whilst there is a thriving underground market for illegal workers then there will continue to be rackets to get them there.

The fines for employers should be more severe with the potential loss of business making it just too risky for people to do.

There is a very widespread rumour in London that many ladies from the Indian sub-continent employ ringers to take the driving text for them.

That's been the case for some while in areas such as Southall, west Ealing and Hayes, Andrew, and by "some while" I mean from the 80s on!

It is not just a rumour.............

Another ethnic group blatantly uses Veils and Burkas, to great success... But demanding to uncover their faces would open a pandora box of vile accusations...

The French, have got it right, no face coverings in public places.

Mea had to send in 2 photos beforehand and these were checked against her passport on the day of the test - this 'should' flag up if the same passport is used more than once ie a ringer. Maybe its not that sophisticated and the passport could be forged too...
