To me it sounds like as if you have already admitted defeat...

    Far from it, Dom.
This is a battle I cannot lose, for her sake!

Understand you 100%, but I also understand that if you don't approach the matter in a delicate way, without sounding too patronising or strict to her, you may end up making a rod for your own back.
Try to reach an accord you can live with, that leaves her with a compromise that she can accept.

    You're right, Dom.
It's a conundrum, especially hearing her notification sound going off all the time.

I'd prefer neither of my kids to have mobile phones but the school they attended last year made it impossible to study there without one - ff'ing ridiculous - it's probably the same story in the UK.

Quite a few schools in the UK, do ban mobiles in class. The seem to have the right to confiscate them. Which is comforting to know

Phones are banned in many schools in Metro Manila at least they were in my kids Junior High, the restrictions have been lifted for my daughter's grade 11 and 12 years and I think were lifted for my son for those years too.

Yes it's a problem for all including the adults who spend similar or more time on mobiles, tablets and computer screens.

Depends what you're looking at - I probably spend as much time, harmlessly, watching tv on it as my wife spends comparing herself socially - upwards and downwards - east and west if she could too :D
