Hi, did you need it at the embassy for Affirmation or for the local gov’t registry? I noticed that the gov’t website didn’t include birth certificate as one of the requirements for Affirmation. Thanks

I would advise to take it to both some local gov't offices might ask for it and some won't best be prepared

Hi, may I ask if we could submit a certified true copy of the marriage certificate instead or while waiting for the NSO/PSA marriage cert? Thanks

Hello all, big question is, as this section is titled,
Marrying in the Philippines and settlement in the UK
For my lady to come to the UK to live with me. The SPOUSE VISA application section titled SPOUSE DETAILS, -

    Question is:
Have you ever lived with "MY NAME HERE" within or outside the UK?
My answer is "Yes" outside the UK-------------Because , read below

Provide details of when and where you previously lived with your partner.
Yes because I lived with her in Hotels , Condos, Resorts for the 4 years in the Philippines visiting her - Before I married her, I am going to write all the weeks living together in the Philippines over 4 years of me visiting. or NO, NO NO, sir that is wrong, you have read the question wrong, the answer is not that kind of living together.

hmmmm what to write here - thank you people, just a little confused.

I think living together is defined as cohabiting for a continuous period of around two years or more, but that's from my memory of looking into the Unmarried Partner visa many years ago, visits don't count, you have to show joint commitments existed like tenancy agreements.

The clauses you refer to really apply to an expat who gets married overseas and then wants to return to the UK after an extended period living together abroad with their spouse.

True true I was having a lot-LOT-A-LOT of jolly good holidays with her before asking her to marry me.

This has probably been answered before but I will ask again. We have the marriage certificate from the wedding day, and we are waiting for the NSO marriage certificate. Can we apply for spousal visa using the marriage certificate we signed on the day or do we have to wait? Thanks in advance

    Hi Distance waterways :)

My wife waited for the NSO marriage certificate to arrive before we progressed with the spousal visa.
It took a long time to arrive 12 years ago and she used to get upset on the phone a lot.
I believe it is faster now.

We took a few photocopies when it arrived back then.

    Best of luck.
