And yet their System Status claims "All products and services online" ...

Yeah that just means that all of their infrastructure is running, the fact that one tiddly little website is being moved from one server to another server does not count as an issue. And the horrendous performance of 88.208.252.231

Clearly taking more than the 6 hours that they said to Paul.

I just hope they don't try to move the database as well, it is already on a totally different server and runs fine.

The move will entail a DNS change as well so god knows how long that will take to propagate, from memory their TTL settings are quite long .

Interestingly I just searched a couple of other websites that share the 88.208.252.231 address, i.e. nslookup returns that address when their domain is queried and they are dead as well.

Indeed I have now searched for and tried five websites that share our IP Address and none of them are responding.

    Oh amazing :D

Now they have some status info :

    Current: Web Servers
Issue opened: Tuesday 21st June 2016 at 09:36
    • Our Systems engineers are working to resolve an issue affecting websites hosted on shared Linux server 88.208.252.231

Whilst this is ongoing websites will experience degraded performance and will be intermittently unavailable.

Wasn't me that opened the issue either.

Didn't Paul mention that there were around 1,500+ accounts on our server which is why it took so long for them to restore it a couple of weeks ago? You'd have thought one or two of them would have noticed that their server was inaccessible and reported it!

Yeah it was me that mentioned the number of accounts on that server I think.

It depends how many of them are just static corporate front pages, and how many are interactive.

To the guests who are viewing the site and this thread if you are members just log in, this is the real British-Filipino site just without our usual Domain Name at the top, it is not a copy and anything you post will not be lost when we get back to our usual host.

Not exactly living up to their name, are they? 24 hours and counting ....

Yeah not happy, but we can't shortcut things now they have instigated the process of moving us from one server to another, if I start messing with the DNS it will affect their attempt to move us.

Have they given a revised ETA after missing it this morning?

Good to know they have a keen sense of urgency!

Right this is getting ridiculous and I have lost patience with Fasthosts.

I have adjusted the DNS to point at this temporary site, if we are lucky the DNS update should propagate in a couple of hours if we are unlucky their site suggests up to 24 hours.

When they finally get round to moving our site they will change the DNS back again but this site should continue to work and give us cover while the change propagates round the web.

Just so you know attachments are not working on this temporary site there may be other small issues which I have not yet found.

In addition performance will not be great as we have to drag the database query results over the web from Fasthosts but at least it should work.

Let me know how you get on with this temporary site.

The DNS change has taken effect already on my home machines but has not been updated at the office.

Our regular server is down for me - or at least it is serving empty pages. I'm using your Osscom back up, Jim, to post this.

The site is working fine here, and very fast, the backup will be removed shortly as I will testing performance of the backup with a local copy of the database rather than the remote live database, so if you inadvertently use it posts will be lost.

    However please keep reporting issues.
