Is Your Suitcase Tamper-Proof?

    I gave up locks long ago, since I usually travel with a sportsbag. Cable ties do just as well.

    I'd never relax leaving my camera stuff protected by a cable tie, Bob :erm:

    I've just traveled to Poland, my personal laptops were in my hand luggage (photo rucksack), remarkably I am not carrying camera's for once, my company laptop was in my main luggage, it was only a backup anyway as my main personal one has been acting up with occasional overheating.

    Yup expensive stuff goes in hand baggage, the problem for amateur photographers like Mike and me is that we probably carry too much stuff :D (and it's very expensive stuff at that)

    Personally I am now happy to contemplate even carrying one of my own computers in hold baggage but only minus the data i.e. hard drive, but I only do that if I have my main laptop close by, I dread the thought of having to do a rebuild of a machine from my web resources but in principle I could if I really had to.

    Saw this at Gatwick. Bag Wrap service. Saw some guy having a suitcase done in fully logo'd wrap. Not sure on pricing as didn't enquire but noted the service was available.

    Can easily be defeated - cut through the film, open the zip using the trick in the initial post, close the zip as per initial post, then wrap some more film to hide the film that was cut. Film is neither tamper-proof nor tamper evident.

    If you are gonna use a zipped suitcase then you really need tamper-evident seals.

    Ideally a sort of tamper proof case would be one that locks the zippers to a central place.
