Real news interviews a real international strategic genius regarding Hong Kong and it`s neighboring communist devils.

I wonder what the younger mainland Chinese REALLY think about their country's leadership, and the communist system...especially as they seem to travel outside of China a lot more now ?

I travelled from one end of china to the other overland when it was communist,i suspect its a totally different place nowadays,i am old enough to remember the times when a Chinese tourist was unheard of,nowadays they turn up in the most unlikely of places.

Yes, it seems that we do following the acquisition/take-over of this site by its new owner. Paul (Halo-Halo), the previous in-charge, was all for banning politics but agreed to such discussions being confined to one closed section. That has all gone by the board now thanks largely to a member who doesn't respect rules or moderators and by an owner who seemingly doesn't care. The upshot is that the Filipino part of British-Filipino is being largely ignored. There appear to be surprisingly few new members actively posting.

Ah, I'm not the only one to notice that then, Markham.

There is less and less of interest to those of us who reside outside of the UK now, it appears to me.

'Brexit' is hardly a hot issue for myself and my Filipina partner, here in Pangasinan...and British political party leadership, even less so.

I think it has always been that way to be honest, which is fair enough if you think about it.
Most of the members here have been condemned to be stuck there in the UK probably forever and ever..
    Poor buggers.

Decisions made by the current owner are a little strange, to put it mildly. Having a section called "Toxic and Poisoned Thread Graveyard" in full public view whose sole purpose is to "educate" new members as to the thoughts and characters of those taking part is a very strange and a rather unfriendly decision. What it does do, though, is put right up front the seamier side to this place rather like De Wallen in Amsterdam and deters shyer, newer members from posting at all.

Why not rename the site "British-Politics" and have done with it; because that is what this place has become. Keith will be very happy.

I’m not sure I agree. The nature of this forum and it’s predominant subject, visa’s is a high turnaround subject. People come ask their questions and go, we may hear from them maybe 2.5 years later on the next part of the merry go round.

This isn’t the control of admin but more so the members and I’m talking long term members. They actually control the flow of what happens here. If a member finds that the subject matter doesn’t suit them, they have two options. They either go or they contribute subject matter that they and others will also relate too.

The admins keep the site running and pay its expenses , you, me and the others are the guardians of its longevity with the choice of subject matter.

I hear what you say, Paul, but it's not entirely how you saw things a year or so ago.
I agree but anyone visiting this place will surely wonder why Brexit, Extinction Rebellion and Climate Change are so upfront and prevalent and what their connection with British-Filipino relations, marriage, visas and respective cultures is. Do you see any connection, I'm afraid I don't.

I disagree. The layout of the site, its rules, its audience and, to a great extent, its subject matter most certainly are the purview of the site management. It's a bit disingenuous to now pass the 'blame' (for want of a better word) onto the members when, under your stewardship, things were somewhat different.

Take it or leave it.

And the place is dying. :(
