I have just registered to take the IELTS test on the 6th July, essentially for my Australian visa I don't need to do it, but if I get a Level 7 they'll give me 10 immigration points and level 8 will give me 20 immigration points (I need 60 all in all for a permenant residency skilled migrant visa). Marvie as a dependant over the age of 18 requires a level 4.5 so we'll be doing the test together. We've been going through the British Council website, because even as a native English speaker there are ways where you can lose marks simply by not being familiar with the process. I have printed out all of the example test papers, and downloaded the listening recordings and we've had our first mock exam. I got an 8 and Marvie got a 6, which isn't bad for a first shot. The listening exam is actually quite difficult in that if your not paying attention properly or not quite sure what they are expecting you could easily lose a mark here and there. We have the IELTS books and will be both working hard to get 9's! I'll feed back on my experiences, because I'm sure they will be identical to those in the Philippines. It's quite interesting as a Brit having to do an English test.
