[SINGAPORE] Hundreds of flights in and out of Hong Kong were canceled early Monday as protesters coordinated strike action to bring the city to a standstill.

After another weekend of unrest, demonstrators planned to take leave or call in sick from work. Cathay Pacific Airways' pilots and flights crew unions said they'd take part.

More than 70 flights leaving Hong Kong to destinations across Asia canceled as of 5:20am local time. More than 60 incoming flights, many from China, also scrapped.

Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon, which operates some of the Cathay Pacific flights, "strongly recommend customers postpone non-essential travel".

Hong Kong Airlines cancelled 30 flights in and out of Hong Kong. Scrapped services include flights to Shanghai and Beijing and some from Tokyo and Taipei.

Hong Kong Airport told passengers to head to the airport only if their flights and seats have been confirmed.

Nope. I realise that your TV, radio and phone signals may be deflected by the ginormous coal slag heaps in your neck of the woods and therefore you may not know that the strike has been called-off.

If the strike went ahead - which it isn't - then almost all the passengers adversely affected still need to travel and that raises the prospect of extra flights being laid-on to shift the back-log.

Four million hectares burned thus far in Siberia and none of you save the planet screwballs mention it!
Should I start a thread or should we just recycle this one? I wouldn't want to make it any worse!

We have years ago, it was all part of the predictions that you imagine are fake news and fake science.

It's one of the death knell feedback loops that will kill us all, Arctic permafrost thawing, and further down the road the destabilisation of undersea Methane clathrates.

Methane although it has a short life is a far more potent greenhouse gas than CO2.

Am I supposed to act surprised when I see **** like this happening when I've known about it forever.

    Start a new thread.

Your so right:rolleyes: BA decided on a tec hitch instead:p

"About half of the British Airways flights scheduled to depart from Heathrow’s terminal 5 between 9.30am and midday were cancelled or delayed, according to the airport’s website.

In a statement, the airline said: “We are working as quickly as possible to resolve a systems issue which has resulted in some short-haul cancellations and delays from London airports."

Hong Kong is Chinese, time they faced up to it,we were tenants,we moved out,the landlord has taken control of the property again.

It`s an autonomous region until 2047..
Trouble is the commies are trying to introduce new laws that render the freedoms enjoyed by Honkongers practically null and void long before that date.

I was there the last day of british tenancy I remember the panic in the few years leading up to the Chinese moving their furniture back into their old home, its one of the reasons parts of Canada now have massive Chinese populations, the Chinese said they weren't going to change anything for 50 years but it is what it is.
