Hi, I need someone to help me please... I am a British citizen. And my boyfriend is planning to apply for a fiance visa. He's in the Philippines. Heard a lot of stories... I know they are stricter now. How hard is it to get a visa?Is it better if we get an immigration lawyer to sort everything out for us? Im a bit confused here... I need your advise please...

As long as the application is a straight forward one then there is absolutely no reason at all why you shouldn't do it yourself, all the information you need for a successful visa application is contained within this forum.

Save yourself some money, you know it makes sense :)

Thank's for your reply. Much appreciated.

Here's my story. My fiance is a seafarer (he's an officer). We've been together for almost 2 yrs now. We communicate through email, chat on fb, viber, line, we talk on skype. He calls me on my mobile phone using inmarsat of their vessel. We've seen each other twice now-October 2013 and July 2014. We're planning to see each other again in May 2015.

At the mo, his annulment from previous marriage is ongoing at present and he was told the annulment will finalised hopefully in November 2015.

I was thinking maybe its best for him to come over here in UK as a visitor first so we could spend more time together (maybe up to 5 months?) whilst he is waiting for his annulment to end. I can only stay in the Philippines for maximum of 5 weeks (my manager only allows us holiday of 5 weeks at a time). Then whilst he's here he can take his english exam. But then, I was thinking, will this affect his application for fiance visa cos he'll apply after his holiday here in UK?

What is the best thing for us to do?

Based on our story, I don't know if it would be easy for him to apply for a fiance visa.

Timmers, as I have mentioned on my previous post we've only met in person twice in the Philippines. And is planning to see each other again next year. I dont know if this is enough to prove our relationship is genuine

my partner has been waiting since her application was started in dec 2013

my partner was over here in the UK from aug 13 to jan this year---a visit visa

    hmmm--i worry about that too.

You have met in person twice so there is no problem there as the UKVI only requires that you have met in person once and you have kept in touch using the Skype and the like (make sure you keep all the chat logs for the visa application). Note that for him to get a visit visa for the UK is notoriously difficult but not impossible, he will have to show compelling reasons why he will return to the Philippines, we had two applications turned down.

The major hurdle for you to overcome is probably his annulment but I see you are aiming for late next year so there is a chance it will be done and dusted by then.

I don't personally see any problems with you getting a Fiancee visa, you have more of a chance getting a Fiancee visa than a visit visa for him:)

    Good luck :)

    Hi Bigmac!

My fiance filed for his annulment same time as your partner, Dec 2013. Supposed to be finalised August 2015 but 2 hearings were cancelled. Judge did turn up

    Anyways, goodluck to us :)

yep--same thing with my partner---3 times the judge did a no-show--which caused 3 months delays. she had her final court appearance in early sept----and was told she would hear in 3 months--i.e early december. i will believe it when i see it. not holding my breath.

I need advice please. I've just recently started working and my pay from November was £800 because I started mid of the month. But from december I have fix rate of 440/week (1760/month) before tax. I was just wondering will the 800 matter in meeting the minimum income requirement? And when is the best month for us to apply? Is it possible to apply on April?

    Hello all,

This is my first ever post on the British-Filipino site and I just want to ask for some good, knowledgable advice on what I'm about to explain. It's kind of hypothetical but it is also a possible reality to how things can pan out for me and my fiancé this year.

Just say my fiancé was planning to apply for a marriage visa for entering the UK, say, from August 2015, for the allotted 6 months they give you to get married and for her to return to the Philippines and we planned to get married 3 months in to the visa (which is what we would like to do). Planning all this out, starting from the wedding day and going backwards, can someone give me a timeline of what steps would need to be taken and what documents are needed according to the position on this imaginary timeline (hope it's not confusing so far)?! For example, when we actually start the application process, what documents would we look at attaining first and second and so on and so on? I understand what documents are needed through the governments guidlines and the advice on many forums including this sites but I need a breakdown of the order in which I and my fiancé, since 2012, should go about it.

When I think about it, I think the first thing to do would be to book the wedding date and go backwards from there. Any experienced forumers out there?!?!

Any help will be gladly received!

    Thanks and God bless :)

P.s. never use google chrome on an iPhone 6 to type a message out on this website! An absolute nightmare as the cursor just doesn't want to go where you want it when there's something needing edited!! Stick to safari! :)

No worries. I can't really explain it better than I have. I know what I mean in my head but typing it up for people to understand was always gonna be a task! I'm sure I'll work something out :)

If you need any help with the visa process itself, just ask here and someone will help, loads of us here have been through the same process.

Thanks for the reassurance of help. I guess I'll just go about gathering proof and documents as and when I can get them. Has anybody on here been married in the UK under the new rules and guidelines and still have their notes or lists on how they went about doing it?! I'm wanting to have a good logical way of starting things off on this application process, just like everyone else I guess!

Here's a short background about my relationship with my fiancé.

I've been engaged since December 2012. We got engaged when I was on my second visit to the philippines. My first visit was for 3 weeks and the second visit was for 6 months. so, we've spent a little bit of time together in person. She's never been outside of the Philippines but has a very recent passport and she has a good employee record for over 18 months by having 2 jobs and earning a respectable amount considering the average Filipino wage. My finances are ok and I have good savings but I don't quite earn the £18,600 to apply for a spouse visa which she could also get married here but stay for a much longer time and be able to extend her stay!

I've meet her family, friends and church. She is in contact with my family, friends and church through Skype and WhatsApp. We're always on Skype together each day and always messaging each other. She's as genuine, loving and caring as you can get. I'm very blessed to have met her and to have the opportunity to marry when the time comes.

That's just a little bit about my situation and I'm sure I've missed some big points but it's just to give a taster on where I'm coming from! Thanks :)

I've checked out the list on the UK Government site but if you have some guidance and advice on documents that may be helpful then by all means share it! Actually, anything that you think will help me in any way regarding applying for this visa will be gratefully received! I sometimes thing the info that they put on the government site isn't all that meets the eye!

You could even tell me how you went about things and in what order etc.

    Thanks a lot :)
