28 days before 'Date of Expiry' on the current BRP is the 'norm' for the earliest date you can apply for the next stage.

Other thing to think about is that need 5 years for ILR so don't want to apply to early for second FLR(M) as could end up having to do a third to get to ILR qualification point. The 28 days before ensures that only 2 are needed in total.

Can somebody confirm before I think about starting this process again for my wife based in the Philippines- the costs.

How much it costs depends on who you’re joining and how you apply.

Apply outside the UK Apply in the UK
Cost if joining your partner, parent or child
    £1,538 £1,048
Cost for each dependant added to your application £1,538 each person £1,048 each person
Cost for adults who need to be looked after by a relative
How much it costs depends on what permission your relative has.

If they have temporary ‘protection status’ (permission to stay as a refugee or with humanitarian protection) it costs:

    • £388 if you’re applying from outside the UK

    • £1,408 if you’re applying from inside the UK
    Otherwise, it costs:

    • £3,250 if you’re applying from outside the UK

    • £1,408 if you’re applying from inside the UK

Are the the £1538 and £3250 the fees that I will have to pay to make this happen ?

I’m a bit out the loop since I’ve been looking after my Mother post Covid

or should I not bother and just visit and meet up a few times a year

      Many thanks !
