Hotel Near to British Embassy, Manila

The Embassy is actually at the bottom of a hill in what is a bit like an upmarket suburb, no shops, no people, it's next to the C5 main road but separated from it by a smaller local road all the shops and civilization are on the other side of 6 lanes of road and there is no chance of crossing that road, it's quite close to being definable as a motorway.

It is also next to the South Korean Embassy which was constructed a short time after the British Embassy, it is nigh on impossible to hail a taxi from this location as the surroundings are so dead and the main C5 road is not accessible and has no opportunity for drivers to stop. Also because it is a dead suburb the taxi's don't venture through it either, so be warned Howerd make sure you have transport waiting for you.

Your backpack will probably be safe the troops that were there at security when I was there were Filipino not British but I think they would be trustworthy, all your stuff and id apart from your passport will have to be left at the security checkpoint, the main thing is making sure you can get away easily afterwards, took us a long walk before we got a taxi from there.

Mark I've lived there for a substantial part of the last ten years I know what the taxi's cost and I know the geography, where I went on the one occasion I got a taxi to Makati was 4.3 miles from the airport, your journey from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 is only about 3.25 miles and you're getting charged 800 peso or more

I used those taxi's because they were predictable and an expense that I accepted for that predictability on arrival, cars that Ana arranged inevitably turned out to be a friend of a friend or family and were much less safe and ended up much less cheap once you had given consideration for the poor hard working driver I stopped her meeting me at the airport because of that crap.

On arrival I just want to get home to the kids quickly and safely and in under 15 minutes.
