I travelled a lot, like you, but in a prior life. Tierra del Fuego was barren and beautiful back in 1979 and, thankfully, tourist-free because of the inclement weather. I hope it is still unspoilt. I always thought I was ok if I was in a location where they didn't sell coca cola or pepsi. I installed and babysat a radar station on Estancia Cullen farm with 25,000 sheep back then and it was quite isolated, so much so that when I drove the pickup into Rio Grande, I had to collect many items for the folks on the farm. I doubt I would go to Ladakh with little ones as the road to Leh is quite dangerous in the three months that the region is open and accessible.
