I always rented out apartments in Taguig, which is fairly near to the Embassy, although I've never actually been there.

    But it's very close.

If you're interested, then try here: http://www.pearlslettingagency.com/fort-bonifacio-1b/4533973691

We always used this agency. Fort Bonifacio (South of Market) is a really good location.

The hotel I booked was well away from the Embassy - the taxi driver got lost!

The embassy isn't that far from Makati by taxi. Plenty of safe accommodation choices there. The dusit thani in Makati is reasonably priced. You could try the Lancaster hotel in mandaluyong (also close and cheaper)..

You might want to look at City Garden Hotel in Makati. :)

Luckily I know exactly where I am and where I am going in Metro Manila and was never subject to the scam in the earlier years before I found my way around :)

Often I am happy to go the longer (mileage) but shorter in time route, they should appreciate it but they don't always think it through.

City Garden is not that cheap these days plus it is right next to Burgos which is not the best part of Makati, but it is a nice hotel, and it is still a fair distance from Taguig, they would probably have to get down to Ayala Ave from there and then over onto McKinley road with a bit of slightly tricky navigation from there to get round to upper McKinley and down to the British Embassy.

Somewhere just north of the American Cemetery would probably be best but I don't know anywhere specific near there.

Guijo Suites in Makati .. it takes 15/20mins going via the skyway ... awesome wee hotel, very clean and modern.
I should have said 15/20 mins from NAIA via the skyway to Guijo ... ;)

I had stayed at F1 which was good, but probably not the budget you are considering?
A couple of right turns and your at the embassy.
Agoda.com has map that you can scroll around the area to see what's available through them.

That's a good hint there on how to escape from the British Embassy :)

It is almost impossible (or at least it was) to get a taxi from the embassy once you are there, we saw the road parallel to C5 but didn't think to venture along it as there was no knowing where we would end up, but it would end up somewhere where you could grab a taxi reasonably easily.

When I went to the Embassy, the taxi driver waited for me - not expensive. I did that because of oss's suggestion at the time. The taxi driver also suggested it for the same reason - I think he paid the Embassy guard a few pesos as well to park in a no parking area.

Do you mean VFS Global? If so the Guijo Suites is just off Chino Roces Avenue and VFS Global which is also on Chino Roces Avenue is 10/15mins away in light traffic or 30/40mins in heavy traffic....

@Dachie If you are open to renting Airbnb units, there are some along McKinley Parkway, only a 5-minute drive away from the British Embassy. Closest hotels would probably have to be the ones in BGC.
