Bit of a shock really, so many stars have died in 2016 and we are still not at the end of the year yet. I quite liked some of his songs when I was growing up, his songs were always catchy and upbeat. I know he has had his share of problems over recent years and was making headlines for the wrong reasons but I didn't expect him to die at such an early age. When you look at bands like the Rolling Stones who are famous for their intake of drugs and drink especially in their early years it makes you wonder how they got away with it and are still performing today. Sad news, just like Rick Parfitt, George Michael was with me when I was growing up.
Woke up to this sad news RIP George Best song Careless Whisper by far like has been said some of his and Wham s music was catchy and upbeat I think perhaps he lost his way in later years.
I used to listen to some of his songs before. It's unfortunate that this happened, we will all die but 53 is still young. RIP.
I didn't know he lived in Goring. That is quite near us and we've been there quite a few times. Let's hope 2016 can at least finish on a positive note and see Carrie Fisher pull through.
It was good to read in the news that he helped a few charities and made one off donations to individuals like the girl on "Deal or no Deal" who needed £15k for IVF treatment, a drop in the ocean maybe but at least he made the effort. It often makes me wonder why the stars of today appear to learned nothing from their predecessors regarding drink and drugs, it appears stardom often brings wealth and fame but does not make the individual happy.
I think the pressures of todays social media circus has a lot to do with it,the modern day star is told where to be ,when to be there, what to say etc etc, no escape perhaps they then become targets for the social recreational drugs as a form of getting away from it all become dependant and the spiral is downward. Very Sad
