I have been filling in the online form to apply for an extension to my Wifes FLR-M but I'm unsure that I am filling in the right form??

Also it says about attending at a UKVCAS Centre which we did not have to do before?

On the email I got when I was halfway through and saved it it says

    "UK Visas & Immigration

Your visa application has been saved.

Use this link to sign in to your application:

    Family Route

    UK Visas and Immigration"

    can anybody help?

So do you have to go to an appointment or is that only for the premium service?

That’s for premium service. You can send the documents by post, they’ll give the address at the end of your online application (I think).

When you book an appointment you have to choose one of those ukvcas centre which is nearer to you .Either you pay for premium or not. When I did mine, I choose Manchester and it was free.( 10 days after I submitted my online application) but you have to pay 100 if you want earlier because once you press submit button you only have 10 days to submit your supporting documents and take it to the centre on the day of your appointment ( biometric). But I paid 600 for one day decision. ....

But using this service you have to upload all your documents through Sopra steria website or You pay 60 I think if you use there “scanning service”. The choices there was “ new service” or existing service. Which is I used new service.

Basically if you use “new service” either you upload all your documents from home or let the centre upload it for you and book an appointment within 10 days. Or “existing service” where you have to post your documents to the given address together with your biometric within 15 days.

Thank you for all your replies, what was confusing me is that on the last FLR-M we did not go to any appointments, on the new online form the way it is worded does not make it look like an optional appointment only for the premium service.

We recently applied for 1st FLRM & I couldn't make head-or-tail of how to use the 'new' service - or what was required - so just went the old-fashioned, postal service route.
I daresay by the time we get to the 2nd FLRM there will no longer be a choice...!

    Hi Brom27
I had been reading n following your comments given n find them really helpful.
My 1st FLR expires Feb 2020 and going to get really nervous gathering all docs.

Could you pls advise if there isany new rules or changes made by ukvi for 2nd flr? And also where can i get the english test in London? Maybe a list of docs required if you dont mind.

    Thank you Brom27

    Regards

    Hi Ac,

My wife's been living in the UK for just over two years now so I'm currently filling in the 1st FLR online application.

She needs the IELTS Life Skills A2 certificate and I've booked her in for that test in April, whereas if you're coming up to 5 years residence you need Life Skills B1, though if you're going the five year route I'm not sure why you're calling it your second FLR as it would be an application for indefinite leave to remain?

I've probably got my wires crossed, but whatever you're applying for here's a link to confirm what certificate you need, where your nearest test centre is and how to book. Cost for the A2 was £150 paid online in advance.

An alternative and potential money saver, is to take IELTS General training and achieve a score that equates to level B1 for english speaking and listening that can be used for FLR & Later ILR if ILR B1 level doesn't change. If you score higher, then offers more reassurance.
Note General Training scores for reading and writing can be anything as that are not a requirement for spouse visa.

If your wife arrived in the UK already married (on a Spouse Visa) then there is only 1 period of FLR, as the SV lasts for (I think) 2 years & 9 months - 33 months - plus a period of 30 months FLR. If she came here as a Fiancee, then there are 2 periods of FLR(M) - both 30 months.
Although the Spouse Visa route appears to be 3 months longer, I believe you can apply for ILR as soon as you reach the 60 months (5 years).

It seems that VISA extension applications cannot be submitted no sooner than 28 days than the expiry date of the previous VISA / British Residential Permit.

it makes you wonder who makes these forms up. some of the questions were downright intrusive and totally irrelevant.
but i suppose because you have no alternative these UKVI people can require whatever they want. i will be soo glad when the 5 years is up.
