Hi all, just a few questions regarding the online FLR M application if I may, I am currently stuck answering a few very confusing questions regarding children.

First of all the question is "Do you have any children 18 years old or under?"
my wife has 3 children all under the age of 18 living with their father in the Philippines which are unfortunately not here due to sole responsibility reasons.

    I answered Yes

"Are all of your children applying with you on this application"

    I answered No

"Why are all of your children not applying with you as part of this application?"

I gave the answer that they currently reside in the Philippines not the UK

It then asks for numerous details regarding each child not applying including, who they live with, where they live, passport details, why they do not live with the applicant, and also the date the child entered the UK

Obviously I am unable to enter a date as they reside in the Philippines and I cannot continue unless I do enter one or unless I edit and change the original answer to no for any children 18 or under, this of course would be contrary to the answer on the original spouse visa application.

Has anyone else faced this dilemma and if so how did you resolve this and if no one has does anyone have any suggestions ?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

    Mick

We are in a very similar situation. We replied her son was not here with us as ukvi had already refused his application all because of the sole responsibility issue.

Oh ok bigmac, I will probably click No as the answer for children 18 or under and provide a cover letter as I cannot see any other way around it.

Some of the questions just do not seem relevant such as providing proof of my ex wife's current address such as a utility bill, again I have to click that I can provide this even though I definitely will not be able to.

    Hi Mick
The forms are very generic and sometimes difficult to crack!
Can you recall how you responded to these questions in your first application? If not as you say I would just put in a spurious date to get through the section and then brief note it in the other information.
I know when we did my wife's daughter's application the 2nd time they asked for her biological father's birth certificate but hadn't asked for it first time. It was in the mandatory docs so we had to tick it and then explain later that the other(his) side of the family had got it and over the passage of time we had grown apart with no contact now.
    Hope this helps

Hi Mattecube, yes the forms do appear to be very generic, from memory when the first application was made in Hongkong we just gave details of my wife's 3 children in the Philippines and my 3 in the UK and it was quite straight forward.
Yes I think I will put the date as the day the application is made with a cover letter to explain about this and also to explain why I cannot provide proof of my ex wife's address, I am sure many have faced these issues and have managed to deal with it in a similar way.

    Thankyou for your response.

I have a similar dilemma with the online FLR(M) to the OP and was hoping to get some advice. My wife is applying for FLR(M) along with her dependent daughter who is already with us in the UK. The form asks about non-applying children. My wife and I have had two children born in the UK since she has been here, so I have included them as non-applying children on the application, as they have British citizenship through me, and we can provide the necessary documents etc for them. My wife has a child who is resident in the Philippines with his biological father and is not part of the application. I initially included him, but the form then asks many non-relevant questions ie date of entry to the UK, and asks for documents we would have no way of getting ie his father's utility bills. I assume then we would not include him as a non-applying child? Otherwise the form will not let me progress without adding bogus information. We did briefly mention him in the open text section about why some children are not included in the application, and just said he is resident in the Philippines and is not seeking to enter the UK. Does that sound correct?
The form then asks whether I as husband have any other children not included in the application. I pay child maintenance for a child from a prior relationship, but I am not listed on the birth certificate, have no contact with the child or mother, and have no contact details for them. If I answer yes, I am asked many questions about him, most of which I don't know, and I'm asked for documents I would have no way of getting from the mother. Would I be better to answer no to this question, and then in the following question when it asks about any financial dependents not previously mentioned in the application, write the details there, as well as in my cover letter? In the original spouse visa application, I answered yes to this question in the paper version of Appendix 2, but then it didn't ask for all of the follow up questions and documents. Thanks for any advice, I'm quite perplexed by some aspects of this online form!
