    Hi all,
I had a query about necessary documents for an FLR application for my wife and step-daughter. There is a question in the online application form about the parental responsibility of my wife for her daughter. When we originally applied for the daughter to come over we provided all of the documents to show my wife had sole parental responsibility, including an affadavit from her and the father, documents from her childhood showing my wife was the only one involved in the decisions about her life etc etc. In the extension application, should we provide all of those documents again? Or given she is already here in the UK and we successfully demonstrated sole parental responsibility in her original settlement application, that we just provide documents pertaining to her time here in the UK ie demonstrating that she is living with us, in education here etc? We still have the docs from her original application, but don't want to throw the kitchen sink at it in terms of docs for the FLR application if we don't need to. Thanks for any help

i would throw the whole kitchen at it. i know from experience that previous information is kept..but who knows what the case officer may or may not do on the day he/she looks at your application.

Totally right not to throw the kitchen sink at it.
We bought my wife's daughter over and she is preparing for ILR this year.
It was easier for us because her biological father is deceased, however we had to ensure we covered who looked after her from 2015 to 17 while her mother was here.
Her 2 applications were slightly dìfferant in the first one they asked for his father's death certificate however in the second application they also asked for his birth certificate.
As we did not have and could not get it we wrote a paragraph on the reason we couldn't get it but also that they hadn't asked for the birth certificate in the first application so why ask for it in the second!
At the end of your daughter's application they will tell you
Mandatory documents to supply and also useful ones to supply I would certainly the affidavit and her original visa acceptence letter and a few on her life in UK ie school or doctors

    Good luck

Many thanks for your replies. I think we'll play it safe and include the affadavit from the father and some of the other docs from the original application. The only mandatory document we are asked for with the FLR is the birth certificate of the daughter (which doesn't name the biological father, which helps I guess), but no harm in including the other documents as well. Her original application was only last year, so the affadavits etc are all still relatively current. Thanks again.

Sounds about right for mandatory documents! They won't ask for much as they be already seen it!
If the child s father is not on the birth certificate you had no need to get an affidavit of sole responsability

Ah ok. Yes, I thought the birth certificate without the father name would be fine on its own, however there is a note on the certificate that shows she changed her surname to that of the father around 5 years ago, so it was ambiguous enough that we thought best to add the affidavit also.

    Hi all,

Just a belated note of thanks for replies to my queries and help mid last year as I was putting together the FLR applications for my wife and stepdaughter. After some long delays in the processing of the applications, we found out that both of their applications had been approved last month. Given the lengthy processing, we now only have a relatively short wait until they can apply for ILR. Thanks again!

    Cheers
