    Hi everyone

My wife and step daughter have been here in the UK with me since October 2019 on spuse visa. Since here we applied for and had pre settled status granted through the EU settlement scheme. My questions are: Do we need to still go ahead and apply for FLR or is this the EU settlement the route now? Whilst on EU settlement scheme do we need apply for visa schengen is travelling to France for a 2 week family holiday? Thanks

We did the same qualifying as relevant person of Northern Ireland.

EU settlement scheme with pre settled status gives you a five year visa and don't need to apply for FLR. Your wife and step daughter are now on the EU settlement scheme (appendix EU) equivalent of appendix FM. Just need the five years in country to apply for settled status which is the equivalent of FLR. Time in country should count from arrival under spouse visa as opposed to grant of presettled status.

Don't require the English B1 or life in the UK for settled status application but do need them for citizenship which can go for once have settled status.

Do need to apply for Schengen visa as settled status does not give visa status in EU. Might get away if going on ferry or tunnel if you have EU passport but normally travel companies want visa as get charged if you are rejected and sent back.

Thanks @Br28016 . Also in Northern Ireland with the family

Glad we don't need to go down the FLR/ILR route- EU settlement scheme is a much cheaper route.

    Thanks

Hi @Br28016 . Heading to France with the family in July and looking at flying from Belfast or Dublin. Dublin must cheaper. If we fly from Dublin what Visa would my wife and step daughter need to apply for? Full Irish Visa?
    Thanks

I'm actually living in England now. In theory need both an Irish and Schengen visa. Driving over the border shouldn't be a problem and leaving Dublin also shouldn't be an issue as dont think they care to much when leaving. Have heard of people flying into Dublin and then going north to border and got away with it. Main concern I would have is whether airline would let you on board on way back as technically they are on the hook for cost to send you back at Dublin if arrive without an Irish visa and refused entry. Think in UK they get fined if someone is refused entry.

Airlines are probably biggest worry as sure if get as far as imigration then should be ok even if they are not particularly happy.

Appointments are very difficult getting. London seems booked out until August I think. Would not make any bookings that can't be refunded. Let me know how get on

Is this with TLS? When we booked last year prior to wife having her BC TLS only released appointments 2 weeks in advance.

That was with TLS in London. Only slots that could see were in August which is no use to us.
