(Delusional poster saying...) Too many sad old men responding here. I pity you.

I was a bit confused by the thread title until I read the whole thread.

I don't like the thread title. I think it should read:

"Wanted, Single Filipina. Already in UK. Must have own job & House. Must love housework, being a part-time nurse, acrobatic sex and football. Applicants: Show up naked and bring beer."

    Ho hum.

Every now and then, newbies do tend to ignore how old a particular thread is, and post a comment...
I wanted to lock this one ages ago, but it seems that it still has some legs.............

I think you'd be very surprised and shocked to learn there are many of those 'types' already in such a relationship (if it can be called that). Add a bit of abuse and other nasty stuff.

Fortunately the UKVI are very supportive of the Filipina spouse when she finally discovers a way out.

I think it was Dom who added the "Delusional poster saying..." bit, that was after the opening poster decided to change the original thread title to "Too many sad old men responding here. I pity you.".

MrSunrise was out of order all the way through this thread.

I would like to say I'm shocked, but I had my suspicions so I would temper that to 'mildly surprised'. I have been surprised however, by the posters on the forum who have openly posted without embarrassment, looking for a thinly disguised domestic slave cum sex toy. The world is indeed a cruel place for someone wanting to find a better life. I often am tempted therefore to question the motives of someone looking specifically for a filipina partner. Why does she need to be a filipina in particular?

My wife's sister (against my advice) moved to Saudi Arabia to work as a housemaid. I did a lot of research into the treatment of women in that area and frankly I was shocked by the way that Filipina women are being exploited and abused, quite systematically. I wrote a paper on it after I analysed all the stats from the various sources. One of my more interesting findings was that a disproportionately large number of OFW are single women between the age of 18 to 30 and a disproportionately large number of those are recuited into the middle east. It appears that the Arab male has a weakness for young, attractive asian women.

As an aside, another interesting finding was that the male unemployment rate in the Philippines is higher than that for women. This is the only country in Asia where this is the case, since usually of course, women are at home looking after children and so is it expected that a number of them will not be working. A far greater proportion of the female workforce was working abroad than the male workforce, so, not only were the women working more of the time, they were also prepared to travel further to do it.

Whether this speaks for the positives of Filipina women or the negatives of the Filipino males I will leave for someone else. :)

Taking all that into account, I can understand the need for the CFO sticker. I realize that its ineffectual and crude, but at least its a step in the right direction.

There have only been a few people like that in all the time this forum has existed, we usually try to steer them away and make it very clear that they are unlikely to find what they are looking for.

Sad truth is the world is full of selfish self-centred people sometimes they turn up here, but not often.

So if we are now saying that we are shocked that some men in this world are looking for a domestic slave I'm so glad I'm an old gorilla. But I could not notice young women would always try and attract your attention when out and about in the Philippines not like in the UK. So why is this ? ? Perhaps one of the ladies that are shocked could explain this.
Perhaps a little off topic but older guys like to be a little old fashioned and have the little old fashion house wife perhaps that's why they go further afield now as a women from the UK would just say jog on.
Mrs gorilla likes to look after her fury mate but I also am a domestic ape around the zoo.

Why would young women try and attract your attention? Because they are desperate and want your money! Just because some Filipina are traditional and some are desperate doesn't excuse plebs trying to exploit them.

<Edit> Following what I think was a misunderstanding in what I meant above, I would just like to clarify that I mean even though some Filipina are traditional and some are desperate, it doesn't excuse people trying exploit them by placing dubious 'wanted' ads. No personal offense to anyone intended.

Perhaps 'others' don't realise that us old men and our partners engage in a lot of banter about our age and cultural differences, etc. We're not entirely stupid, or in some sort of self-denial. ...But, hard as it may be for some unimaginative folk to accept, we ARE happy and we ARE realistic. :like:

Thank you for getting so personal, perhaps I'm young perhaps I'm a millionaire perhaps I'm just that old gorilla just making an observation. I agree with you sentiment of exploitation totally but it's a fact not just in the Philippines in many countries. Just my observation out and about when I lived in the Philippines.

I think there is a misunderstanding, of the type common on Internet bulletin boards, here. I don't think Choi and John intended it personally.

Funny thing about the flight to the Philippines, it magically turns me into Brad Pitt (Over here, it's more like Cess Pitt....laugh dammit). I know what they're thinking and what they're after - I'm not stupid.

There is unfortunately a problem where some men in the UK and Australia, they are ugly and more importantly have an ugly attitude. Why are they separated, why are they single - because no UK woman would touch them with a concrete bargepole, no UK woman would put up with their crap, they are not a catch. So what do some of them do - they go to the Philippines, they go to Thailand, they go to Ukraine and marry their young women, who are willing to put up with a piece of "dropping" in return for a better life and the "red book" in a few years.

This is why I don't do the expat in the UK thing and socialise with my other half's friends husbands. I actually (Sorry if this is blunt) treat them with the utmost suspicion until I know them and know they are ok. I have met far too many examples of people I wouldn't give the time of day to, and because this is personal to me, because I now have Pinay relatives, some young girls who I know would probably marry for base reasons, well I get protective and more than a bit bad tempered if I so much as get a sniff that someone isn't treating their wife right.

I am fortunate that her best friends, their husbands have turned out to be ok guys, and a couple I now count as proper friends. Others, well..... sorry to say some fit the other description, but fortunately I don't know any who beat their wives, or if they do, they keep it quiet.

Sorry for the long post, I have an incredibly low tolerance for this sort of thing. Real men don't hit women........period

I don't think it was meant personally either fella, I don't think anyone on this thread comes over as one of the bad guys. As for the whole age gap thing, as for the whole "initial attraction might have been that bulge........oh the wallet" thing, well maybe that's so, but a couple will only stick together if they then get to know each other, and they find they really do develop feelings which go way way way beyond any initial financial attraction.
