    So what is the cost?

And by that I don't mean the whole cost, but individual costs such as certificate of no impediment translation, judges fees etc...

    :erm:

Good that you resurrected this thread Brian ;) now we can push Sean for an answer as he has just done it, hahaha (evil laugh).

Seriously though I would be interested in totals myself as it is likely to be in my near future too.

UK costs seem reasonable but of course there are Philippine costs plus all the actual wedding stuff reception and so on, would be good if you wrote up a rough guide Kuya ;) :)

When I got married it was 98PHP to the pound, so a hell of a lot cheaper than at todays prices....:)

CNI - (Certificate of No Impediment to Marry) costs is about £30 from your local registry office.
Present this document to the British Embassy in the Philippines to be issued a Philippine version called a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry.
This certificate is needed for the application of a marriage license.
The cost I have is £65.00 or P4,680.00 (at British Embassy rates)

Many Brits are now reporting that you may well be required to obtain a your own CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage) from NSO (National Statistics Office)
so you would be well advised to include this contingency as well.(Better to check)
Cost of NSO CENOMAR is around P415.00 per copy each

NSO Birth Certificate - (This should be fresh from NSO on latest type of security paper. Check)
Cost is around P315.00 per copy

Marriage License - Apply for this in your fiancée's home town at the registry office. (or locality of where marriage will take place)
You might also be requested to attend the "Pre-Marriage Seminar" counselling sessions prior to being allowed to be married. Check and ask when you apply for the marriage license
The cost for obtaining a marriage license varies from place to place, but it's not too expensive.
    Usually it's paid in cash.
Application for Marriage License is typically around P100.00 with some miscellaneous charges around P50.00 and possible Family Planning Seminar around P20.00
Do remember that after you apply for the marriage license there is a mandatory 10 day waiting period while the marriage banns are published

Through the whole process always take extra time to very carefully and very thoroughy check and read through all paper work at each step before signing anything.
If there are any typing errors/mistakes/mismatches it can cost you dear in both time and money.

You should reckon on allowing some cash for copying etc. Not too much say P500 max

    Now to the wedding itself.

I guess the first thing to agree is location, which is all important for a number of reasons
Often the location will determine the number of people who may actually "turn-up". The number of your guests plays a great part in your wedding cost.

On a very tight budget be sure to cut down your guest list. Let your fiancee do this.

Making estimates of wedding costs is very tricky (almost impossible) but at least the following may give you a rough guide on what I would consider doing it on the CHEAP

A civil marriage at the city hall, with minimum of guests and minimum of neenangs and neenongs as witnesses, followed by a small party at a local restaurant.

    - Wedding Rings. Plain gold bands can be bought for around P7000 for two
    - Wedding clothes. Why not try buying ready-to-wear wedding dress for her and nice barong for you from a local market (Divisoria) or similar.
You're sure to find something reasonable for around P6000 for the two of you.
    Alternatively why not consider renting.
Plenty of couples get married in regular everyday clothing.
    - Reception and wedding cake. As you know people love to eat in the Phils. They may well forget about your beautiful wedding, but they will never forget the
food you served. There's plenty of ways to have a great reception without overspending or sacrificing food quality.
Plenty of restaurants offer special wedding party deals ( even Max's Chicken). Let me suggest a budget of P10,000
A proper wedding cake will cost between P2000 - P6000. Alternative but nicely done cake will be around P1000 - P2000. Of course eventually it's a non-essential
    - Photographer - P1500 - P2500. Or just DIY with the guests
    - Flowers/Bouquets - estimate around P1500
    - Give-aways. Around P1500 (keep it simple and limited)
    - Local transportation - I know its not essential but it's nice especially if wearing a wedding gown, right? Think air-conditioned taxi or similar to handle everyone on an 'as needed' basis. Maybe P1500

So basically the whole of the above for around P30,000 which roughly equates to around £450 at todays rates.
    Not too bad.
Of course you can very easily go up to any limit you set, but I reckon that P30,000 is a pretty good basis to start.

Personally I've always favoured hiring a wedding consultant. Often the cost they charge will more than be made up by the resulting savings.
Consultants may have a lot of professional connections that lead to discounted prices for other professional services, as well as creative ideas for achieving your dreams on the cheap.
Securing bargains can take a lot of legwork and research, and if you do not have the time or your wedding is being held far from your home, hiring a consultant might turn out to be a wise investment.

P30000 budget? Where and when was this? If you are getting married in Manila area nowadays, I don't think you can have a decent wedding for P30,000. If it is a civil wedding, then it would suffice.

    Incidentally............. welcome aboard................!!!:welcome::like:

I did it for much less than P30000 in Yokohama Japan
Ialso did it for much less in Northampton UK
I did it for much much less in San Francisco Camotes Island
I seriously believe I could do it for less than P30,000 in Marikina City

There are huge numbers of folk who choose a much less costly pathway on a daily basis.

    Comes down to Choice. IMHO
    No offence intended

lol! My parents planned a big wedding and decided to invite tons of people I don't really know, so that's shocking for me! I don't need to show off so, my husband (my boyfriend at the time) took me to Hong Kong. We registered to get married, he has his divorced paper with him and they gave us 3 weeks so they can verify it as Hong Kong is still under British law at the time. Then we went to Macau and came back to get married after 3 weeks! At the Municipal, filled all the marriage application forms but when we were asked for witnesses, we haven't got any! :p We were told we can ask some people who are there at the municipal for an appointment and were lucky enough to find a couple who are there because their parents are applying to get married too! Out of excitement we didn't even take pictures of our witnesses! :frust: so we only have our picture and no one else!

    Cost of wedding?
a set of returned plane ticket to Hong Kong US$600
set of ticket returned Super Cat speed boat to Macau US$200,
    a month hotel reservation US$120X30= US$3,600
    wedding suits US$500
    and everyday expenses! :p
So hubby spent more or less $6,000
At least we are happy just two of us without anyone who are likely to upset us!

Cost of marriage ? Freedom is the Price !

    (just kidding of course)

My marriages are too long ago,so data isn't laid anymore, but Keith just recently married.

The wedding costs in my Place are between 3000,-php (pure rental) and 25.000php. That's about average for a "normal" wedding with family and some guests.(40-50)
