Agreed, but sadly will not happen :( I know an anti-vaxxer pinay in the UK, told everyone covid didn't exist, she wouldn't get it as she is protected by the blood of christ, yadda, yadda, yadda, when we got back from Canada we heard she has Covid ;)

I have a friend who lives in another UK city who goes to the doctor but never accepts any pills because he is "anti-pharma". It is now very tricky for him because he has a Vietnamese fiancée and he cannot visit her because he never had a covid-19 vaccination.

The anti vax bunch on facebook are a very aggressive lot. I gave up trying to debate with them. Better things to do.

We eradicated the smallpox virus in 1979-1980 that took more than 200 years, as early as 1768 people knew that cowpox infection resulted in immunity to smallpox, and vaccination existed even then, by 1796 Edward Jenner's work and experiments proved the science behind vaccination.

Smallpox was fatal in 30% of cases and could kill 20% of the population and had been around for centuries, Jenner deliberately infected a young boy with Cowpox and then later challenged said boy with the real Smallpox virus, there was no breakthrough infection, vaccination worked.

These f*ckw*t anti-vaxers are denying their own very existence, at our age our childhood vaccinations are the very reason we grew up in a world free from the scourge of bacterial and viral diseases like Smallpox and Polio, the Polio vaccine is particularly relevant to our age group as we were the first to be free of that scourge, I remember my sugar cube vaccination for Polio, needless to say I'm nearly 63 and never experienced Polio.

With modern molecular biology we actually understand what is going on in cells a lot of the time, we have a deep understanding of the chemical processes that are going on in cells now hence modern vaccines are just amazing and with modern computing power and information processing and modelling, doing what has been done in the last two years in terms of vaccines and therapeutics is the dividend of science, thank f*ck we live in a modern technological world where we can design a vaccine in a few hours, what a shame it takes months to scale up the manufacturing but that's a political question now about reserved production resources and an important one for the future.

Let them go back to their pre vaccination Universe of a few hundred years ago and let them all die of the horrible diseases that were around then, of course some of these morons would be lucky enough to survive as there is no direct correlation between intelligence and immunological resilience, sadly thick dumb as sh*t morons are perfectly capable of surviving Smallpox or for that matter SARS-CoV-2 :(

Iv finally found myself added to the list of positive Covid cases, despite having had all my vaccinations (Pfizer) The missus came down with a very heavy cold last week she tested negative for Covid (PCR) but took 1 1/2 rostered days off work followed by 4 days off roster, Then on Saturday I was feeling a bit worse for wear and she told me that she thought I was running a temperature, so i quickly booked in for a PCR test no LFT,s available which I took at teatime on Saturday, then at 03-19 this morning received my PCR result which is Positive. I was working yesterday but didnt feel great I left home at 07-30 back at 16-30 I only had 2 deliveries so didnt come into contact with many people, Luckily I chose not to go to the Match on Sunday lunchtime otherwise there may well have been another 27,000+ cases that I had come into contact with :D.
For those that wish to know I have a bit of heavy breathing (normal for me as a smoker) slight loss of taste mostly my cups of Tea tasted crap, and coughing when chatting for any length of time, for me the worst and most noticeable part of Covid is having thick phlegm which is darned difficult to shift ie to fetch it up and get it out.. I also have a bit of a cold but nowt to really notice. My wife has told her workplace that I have tested positive and they told her to get her butt over to work to take a LFT this she did and she is still testing negative, she has also taken another PCR test and is waiting on the result, Im isolating now for the rest of this week and hopefully all being well will be rejoining the fit to work brigade from next Monday. Isnt it strange my wife regularly has had contact or been close to people at her workplace who have had Covid and now me and no we dont have seperate beds Hahaha ;) yet she has never yet tested positive having been tested almost daily since Covid first appeared.
No im not an anti vaxxer and thank the lord that I have been vaccinated otherwise how much worse may it have been ?, Thanks to the wonderful people that have found the various vaccines to combat Covid, Stay safe folks just be careful when you are out and about, I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones, considering I have worked almost throughout the Pandemic except for the first 3 months lockdown and its only now that its finally got me.. ;)

Sorry to hear this Paul, a close friend of mine came down with it last week but has recovered pretty well so far, only lasted a couple of days and one of the lads on my team came down with it last Thursday as well and he is also recovering well now, my pal is type 2 diabetic and a bit overweight and the lad on my team is type 1 diabetic and also a little overweight both fully vaccinated with AZ then boosted with Pfizer.

Some people have super antibodies against Covid, there is a lot of work being done to try to create a general vaccine against all Coronavirus types not just the Covid-19 variants by creating immunity against parts of the virus that must be conserved between mutations and the folk with the super antibodies are being investigated as part of the studies into this, it's possible your wife is one of the lucky ones but of course it is still possible that she infected you even though she has tested negative but there is of course no way to tell you could have got it when out and about, Omicron is so infectious so transmissible that I reckon people can catch it even outdoors fairly easily.

All the best and hope you get over it quickly.

I was just in the changing room in the Gym, heard a guy telling another he suspects he had covid over new year  I got changed and was out of there quick as

Too late, he's clearly over it now, but were you in the gym over new year when he might have been there?

Also incubation of Omicron is only 2 or 3 days before symptoms appear much more like a cold compared to earlier SARS-CoV-2 variants, if you get it you can be pretty sure it was within the last 4 days that you were exposed.

But I agree I would have got out of there quickly too, although I would never have been there in the first place :D

I work at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford and most likely picked it up there a lady in my lab picked it up too, it was already established in the hospital by February.

    https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/1...-coronavirus-cases-john-radcliffe-bullingdon/

We we treating patients coming back from Wuhan from the evacuation flights in the hospital early on too.

The virus had been reported by the Chinese government in late December Wuhan was lockdowned late January.

Most think that the virus was already established in Wuhan at least before the beginning of December 2019.

I don't think we will find out the truth from China about when they first knew COVID was about as the Chinese government will actively suppress any information.

Yes, but the only time I have felt out of breath was on the treadmill :) I had a PCR in Canada 15'th or 16'th of December, done around 5 rapid antigen tests since then as 'Er indoors keeps getting me to do them, all OK so far, fully vaxxed :like:
