I was flattened 24 hours later, by the day after that I felt a lot better.

My sister was ill for a week after her second dose about two weeks ago she is 70.

Yes, the first AZ jab hit me for a couple of days; my second is at the end of this month.

The thought does occur to me that when you're as obese as Watson was, it is easy to lose weight if you lay off junk food and exercise.

It is true. Yes. But there are gains to be had for those in the spectrum downwards. Given the levels of obesity in the U.K. for example, there is of course a lot to be gained for many people.

BTW. It is rapidly dawning on the population that exercise isn’t sufficient or might not be possible for many people. That being the case the right food is the key. You cannot outrun a bad diet.

Additionally, if you are as obese as Tom Watson was, laying of sugar and junk food often isn’t enough. The next stage is to lay off carbohydrates. Often the obesity is accompanied by T2 diabetes and hypertension. T2 diabetes being the greatest threat to a patient.

“However, On The Beach, one of the biggest UK online travel agents, said it won't be selling any holidays for June, July and August due to "continuing uncertainty around international leisure travel".”

I had my vaccine for the Valneva trial. No idea whether it's Valneva or AstraZenneca. All straightforward and hopefully no side effects later on today.

Not so straightforward for the wife, unfortunately! When doing the physical, the doctor detected heart complications. Only minor, he says. But we'll be getting a letter with a CT Scan invitation next week and pending those results will determine if she can proceed with the trial of not!

And now the Indian variant is looking menacing.

Incidentally they are inviting anyone over 18 to go for their jab up here now. Pfizer.

Sorry to hear that I hope everything turns out ok for your wife.

All the best on the vaccine trial as well.

Well this is certainly not the numbers that have been pushed so far, AZ were saying that almost no one died who had received the first dose and that almost no one was being hospitalised this graph which suggests a 1 in 4 risk of death after vaccination is not great to my mind but then again I am probably misinterpreting the numbers.

My prediction after we open up for travel and the summer season passes we will seed a further surge on the continent in countries with slower vaccination programmes and that surge combined with partial vaccine escape by some variants will see us in the UK back in an albeit more limited lockdown by September or October, but then again I am a pessimist.

    It's not over.

Oh and just a note the number of positive tests in the UK has been increasing every day since the 10th of May, the last increase in infections prior to this was the 27th of March I have screenshots of the official government figures site for every day since the 7th of October last year.

If a change of lifestyle through restrictions short of lockdown is where we have to go for summers of freedom so be it.

The travel bans should be instant once they recognise that there is a problem but I will bet it arrived here and started spreading long before it became a variant of concern.
