Cora's was the place for the first meetup for our members and is a recommended eatery for those in the North west who want to taste authentic and delicious Filipino food.

Cora - the owner. Is a friendly and gracious host, who takes pride in her cooking and is more than happy to accommodate groups of people. If you are dating a Filipino and live within travel distance to Cora's, I cannot recommend it enough as a treat for your mahal. And if you have never tried Filipino food, this is a great place to try things out for yourself.

Price wise, Cora's is very easy on the budget. So instead of grabbing a burger and chips if in Ashton-Under-Lyne. Try something cooked with a little heart for a similar price:like:

Is this place still open? I have tried to ring a few times on 01613304978 and the line either goes dead or I get somewhere called the Engine Shed.

Cora might be on holiday, it's not unknown for Filipino's to go home for a month or two at a time, might be shut but might open again soon?

Please, let us know what's going on, if you can find out.........:like:

Cora's is very convenient as a meeting point for a lot of people in the North-west, and it would be a pity if she has given up, and moved on to the Pool............:erm:

I did pop over the other week. It was closed but all the tables were set. Must just be a temporary thing. The phone line still goes dead though.

She might have gone home for a few days, and probably, will be back whenever...
Phone line could have been stopped on purpose.

Ate Cora is a good friend of mine and I showed her this thread. This kind and generous lady is a real trailblazer having been in the UK since 1974. Ate Cora is still open and can be contacted on Facebook (please search for Corazon Torres) or by email at corazontorres27@yahoo.co.uk. She can cater for anything from Pancit Canton to outside catering for parties or for those occasions when eating with friends after a hard days shift and you just don't want to cook! She even does a fantastic full english breakfast and 3 course lunches to keep the British partners happy!!! But please contact her and try to give her a few days notice if possible so she can make sure she can cater for your needs. Ate Cora is a truly lovely lady and has been flying the flag for the Philippines for many many years having been featured in the newspapers and even on TV showcasing her culinary skills!! There is nowhere else like Ate Cora's in the north of england so all the filipino community please show your support for this amazing lady....she truly is one of Pampanga's Best!!!

Thanks for the input Pablo.. I had meant to get down to Cora's but other things have kept me busy! Glad to hear all is well with her, and yes when we had our meetup there she was truly an amazing host - I look forward to going back.

Uh, oh... Looks like Chryss has some competition to the crown!!!! :D

Ate Cora is still open but not on wednesdays. You can contact her by facebook (corazon torres) or by email corazontorres27@yahoo.co.uk.
Try and give her a few days notice at least so she can get everything ready

We were there on sunday morning as the olympic torch was passing by her place. I'd told her a few days before we were going. She did some absolutely delicious beef tapa and a full english. So it was smiles all round. Was so nice to be there watching the olympic flame pass her front door and enjoying really nice food. A day I'll remember for a long time!
