Omicron BA.2 has already cropped up in Belgium I believe and it looks to outcompete the first version of Omicron (I think 50% of cases in Belgium are the new variant) but no indication that it is any worse than Omicron.

I wanted to be there for my birthday which is coming up soon but I could not have risked booking back in November without a definite reopening announcement like this.

Try Expedia! I always used them as I always find a good deal there and has been using them all the time.

Sorry to partially hijack this thread, but does anyone know if you can LEAVE Manila via NAIA without a vaccination?
My wife is not keen to take, it but is worried she will be prevented from leaving if she does not have the vaccination.

It's the rules of the destination country that apply, and it the airlines that refuse the flight, they are scared of being fined for letting someone fly against the rules, I don't think the Phils would prevent someone leaving although they do have a lot of crazy rules for Filipinos leaving the country.

She won’t be permitted to enter the UK if not vaccinated at all! My son’s GF when she entered and exited UK from South Africa, she was asked for complete a complete vaccine with booster and a PCR test upon leaving South Africa and arriving in the UK. The same thing when she returns to South Africa. So even if she manage to leave Philippines, she won’t be allowed to enter UK.
One of my friend tried to travel to Thailand but didn’t managed as NAIA did asked for all the vaccines. So it applies in many countries.

What sort of proof of vaccines does one needs to enter the UK from the Philippines? Thinking of visiting this summer just to get away from the crazy fiestas they have over here.

I would assume that we support the Philippine VaxCertPH thing as reciprocal acknowledgement of that was required for our NHS Certificate to be valid, it's really just a government provided medical document with a QR Code printed on it.

Were any of your shots something other than the Chinese vaccines Jim, I think you said you got a booster eventually? (you also got boosted from contracting Covid)

Yeah, the booster was Pfizer, it seemed stronger than the Chinese vaccine. Would I need to tell them I caught coved-19?

Don't think so, there is the issue that some people test positive on an RT-PCR test for quite a long time after they catch Covid but you would have to have particular health problems for that to be the case by the time you travel.

A couple of people in I think it was South Africa were testing positive 200 days after infection but these were immune compromised individuals.

The issue you would get is that if you still had some inert virus particles that could cause you to fail the RT-PCR test and you could possibly explain that by saying you had had Covid, but ultimately the reality is you could get Omicron two days before your RT-PCR and be denied boarding.

Actually I am talking utter bollocks, you are a British Citizen there are no restrictions anymore for fully vaccinated individuals, so the only issue might be validation of a Philippine VaxCertPH document.

Travel to England from another country during coronavirus (COVID-19) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
