Oh dear, how about this for 8mb ADSL:

I live 100 meters from the exchange normally get between 7.5 and 8Mb/s download, but have been experiencing these sub-dial up speeds for the last week. I'm quite savvy when it comes to the internet, and it is quite frustrating to phone BT technical support, I dread it, every time, the usual script monkey nonsense like reboot your router (done it 5 times today already) use the wired connection (yes), disconnect all other devices (yes) use Internet Explorer (hahaha funny thats a new one) disable all addons (what? in internet explorer) use the master socket (yes) don't use the master socket (yes) change the microfilters (yes), then they proceed to blame peak time demand (no because this is a constant fault all day and all night) try a different device (oh for f***s sake done that already). Finally they accept there are speed issues, and tell me it will be fixed, with no ETA. Get an email 5 minutes later to say issue resolved? However, the online status tracker contradicts this by saying ETA for fix will be 8 August.

A good connection and speed, only if you live in the Philippines :)

BT require a good ear bashing over that.

BT may employ script monkeys in India but they also employ fraudsters. I contacted BT 2-3 years ago about my aunt's phone. BT then signed me up for a new phone line at my address claiming I had placed an order. I requested and got a copy of the recording that supposedly demonstrated me placing an order!

Not only did I not place an order, I did not even my provide my name, address or phone number (I withheld my number). But BT could still see my number, even though I am not their customer (I am with Talktalk) I then recorded someone from BT telling me how one of their employees had committed the fraud but BT would not accept liability. I got compensation from them in the end.

To be fair, I think BT have redeemed themselves a bit, they did call back yesterday, and did more speedtests, and they accepted there was an issue and have booked Openreach to attend Thursday.

However, what can only be pure comedy gold from BT, was this morning we had a letter saying why not upgrade your monthly internet allowance to unlimited just for a few extra pounds. A facepalm moment if ever there was one. :blackeye:
