Something I learned recently and found interesting. The REM song, Shiny Happy People, is a sarcastic song and is about the Tiananmen Square massacre. The line "shiny happy people holding hands" is actually a literal translation of a Chinese propoganda poster of the time, which was telling everyone that the citizens were content.
