I would like to have some info please of members who have married in the Philippines, obtaining Family Settlement visas for their spouses to enter the UK. How long does the process take on average?

We got married in UK but then returned to Philippines to do spouse visa application last year. Applied end of September, VFS appointment begining of October and got visa early January.

Only difference from us that I would expect is that you would have to wait until you had the PSA marriage certificate before applying (we had UK marriage certificate before we returned to Philippines so could apply as soon as we left UK.

Hi Larry, Paul here. This very much depends on circumstances, my own timeline was Married in April received Visa May the following year, however that included 6 months meeting the financial requirement, then a refusal followed by a priority application. A basic spouse visa usually takes around 12 weeks from application date, a priority spouse visa application usually takes around 6 weeks at the present time. The various documents ie the PSA marriage certificate usually takes the longest to obtain, i would suggest that you try to apply while you and your future wife are in the Philippines this will mean that you won't have to spend any time apart, that is unless you stay in Spain after the wedding in the Philippines.

I obtained the Spanish residency Paul and was going to marry her in Madrid, with a meeting in the civil administration on the 27th August, then achieving a marriage date, and then obtaining her Spanish residency and then getting her to the UK.........

However all this is costing money......... so instead I have decided to marry her in the Philippines, and then obtain settlement to the UK. She is in open warfare about this. Sometimes it appears that all she wanted was the visa and not me?

I asked for a refund from the lawyer who has stated that she will have a difficulty visiting Spain again, as she overstayed her Shennigen

Larry you have said " you have decided to marry her in the Philippines" and she is in open warfare about this" that does not bode well for the future!
Also you think she wants the visa more than you!!!
What are you thinking of even progressing this?

The greatest problem that the Filipinas have is that they cannot accept -well at least some of them that men over the age of 65 have led lives where they were married to other women........ They honestly think that they can find a virgin!

Absolutely barmy, but they are coming from a country where you marry for life........

The latest one suggested I was counting my money to how much I would spend on each visit........ she expected me to pay for everything that she needed, and she didn't want to work......

my wife is the total opposite to that.. she holds down a good job--shes happy with it. her wages are split between us--and her kids back home. she is very generous with her money--and never asks me for any. ( i do pay all the household monthly bills )

When I met my wife and over the following 2 years not once did she ask for money or gifts.
On my visits her family were and still are generous with what they have.
Since being here she has kept in work even after moving area while here.
Her wages are shared some to her daughter and dad back home the rest in the household pot.
    She budgets better than me.
She tells me if I am spending to freely and will often show me examples of better deals. Hotels for example.

Marry for life because of the antiquated divorce laws only, lots of marriages fail in the PI,no difference whatsoever to other countries.
