I just read the story of a woman's quest to visit all of Weatherspoon's 972 public houses, I thought at first "rather her than me" as I do not really enjoy the atmosphere of their pubs although I do like the food on offer and the value for money. Then I thought if you are visiting every one of the outlets in the chain you are pretty much visiting every town in the country which has to be quite enjoyable in itself. Whetherspoons beer prices are cheap but often the beer has gone off! I've got indigestion so many times from drinking dodgy tasty Carlsberg there! Truly if you want to experience UK pubs you want to get to pubs that arent chains, there the ones with real character! And usually cheaper prices too! Having said that, if your in a big city like London the spoons can often be the only place to eat and drink at a reasonable price!
I have been told that Weatherspoon's buy beer cheaper when its nearly on its way out as they can shift the beer quickly, how true that is I don't know. Shouldn't be such a thing as a bad beer nowadays with the price they charge.
Its hard to believe you have only been to one Weatherspoon's Dave as most of the pubs at UK airports are Wetherspoons
I've been told that too! By a couple of people that worked there! Also heard the food is all microwaved!
Its true, I've been in a few of their kitchens, all the food is conjured up so it can reheated in the microwave, they are very big and fancy microwaves though, probably go under a different name though to make it sound better.
Airport lounges have no atmosphere though Dave, better to be in the hustle and bustle of the airport pub
I can go with either, but prefer to relax in the lounge when travelling. Last year I flew LBA - AMS - CDG - SGN, three lounges in a morning, I remember that CDG was a bit rushed.
That pasta you made and served to Paul and me was simply stunning, you would never get that sort of quality in that sort of chain. It is beyond them. Or any sort of chain to be honest.
