The age of the four engine giants is truely over, 747 out of production and the A380, this is quite a change for Emirates who built Dubai Airport gates around the A380 and it's sheer size.

So the 777, A350 and 787s are the way forward.

I liked the A380, I've only been on one twice once on the way out and once on the way back although the seats could have been more comfortable.

My flying days are mostly over now, Jim.
I haven't been on the newer planes.
Comfort? I once flew from Seletar airport in Singapore to Vietnam with our navigation equipment. I was called the "fish flight" and it the prop plane (DC9?) was rammed with so much fish, it was hard to find anywhere to move and you can imagine how we smelt when disembarking in Ho Chi Minh City :lol:. Helped to offload everything into the customs shed and raced off to the hotel for a shower. Can't remember any cats following us but I bet there were some who had designs to nibble us.

I last rode the A380 quite recently...with Emirates. Great airline. Great plane.
I believe Emirates own more than 100 A380s, so it may be a while before they do away with them.

That's approximately the same seat I got back in 2018 :)

Yeah their fleet will be in service for a long time, they are one of the few airlines that are in a position to sustain the hub and spoke model in future there will be a lot more airlines operating direct point to point flights.

Emirates though are situated in a perfect location for hub and spoke.

Great to read about people flying again. That Covid-19 pandemic brought on some dark days :blackeye:
