Foreigners attack foreigner in Dauin Dumaguete City (January 9)—Four foreigners were arrested for trespassing into a home owned by a retired US Marine at Sitio Hawa Pob Dauin, Negros Oriental and for attempted murder on January 6, 2023 at around 10:30 in the evening. The suspects were identified as Mark Higgins and Day Stuart Ian, both British nationals, Johnston Shannon Christopher, an American and Gerard Lukanniuk, a Canadian citizen. In a police report sent to media for posting, the arrested persons illegally entered the residence by climbing over the gate. They were shouting and looking for an American national identified as James Daniel Mostyn, 58 years old. Witnesses shared that the suspects entered the main door of the house and searched for the victim. Upon seeing him, Higgins and Christopher attacked the American using brass knuckles but both were subdued and got mauled instead. The other suspect identified as Jerry Lukanniuk fired his gun and hit the window pane. Recovered after the commotion were 2 brass knuckles and a 45 caliber gun with live ammunitions. A case of attempted murder was filed at the local court but was downgraded to attempted homicide, the police said. Two of the injured suspects were brought to the provincial hospital for medical treatment but they were brought back and detained in Dauin police station together with the other 2 suspects. The victim suffered head injury and was also brought for medical treatment. Bail was set and paid by the suspects and they were released today , January 9, 2023. HEADZ UP! A very well done to that U.S Marine who defended himself and his family admirably that evening. SEMPER FI ! The wannabe gangsters have been released on attempted homicide charges. Bail must have been a sizeable amount. I hope that that immigration are informed and these knumbskulls are blocked from exiting the Philippines.
The four foreigners who attacked Mr. Mostyn weren't the sharpest tools in the shed. They must have known that the "victim" was an ex-Marine because they were armed with brass knuckles and a gun. I wasn't in the military but I would have thought that most people know that Marines are highly trained in armed combat. I suppose they thought that their superior manpower and gun was sufficient. Big mistake
