For those of us looking at booking a flight to Europe, might be worth looking at Wizz Air. I live in Wales, and was shocked to discover Cardiff to Alicante for less than £20 each way, and in the middle of July.

Normally, small regional airports like Cardiff are much more expensive than the likes of Brum or Manc, but to see prices like these shows how the likes of Ryanair are finally losing dominance in the budget flight market. Indeed, its been suggested Wizz is a serious threat to Ryanair. Wizz has excellent liquidity which is why it fared better during Covid, whilst other airlines struggled.

All the same, nice to see Cardiff getting some of the action. Ironically, for me, living in mid-Wales and right on the Cambrian line, getting the train from Aberystwyth right into the airport at Birmingham is the reason I've avoided Cardiff, its just so convenient. However, at these prices, a trip down the M4 seems a cheaper option.

I've flown with Wizz Air many many times on business to Poland between 2009 and 2013, no frills cheap effective generally on time, in the early days the seats were leather upholstered and really quite comfortable.

    Good airline.
