After all I cannot expect miracles at Christmas, but it would be nice if any car sparky I had to message would reply and help me sort the immobilizer on my car.
The darn thing kicked in and the car won't start at all.
After filling up at Tesco it just went all Tampo mode...
Got a tow truck to take me to my garage (£84 inc. VAT x 3/4 mile) and the diagnosis was done. A very Sick immobilizer.

Now her indoors is pushing very hard on looking for another car......... "We can make utang" and buy this or this or that one... You know how it goes.. As long as it is flasher than her friends cars.... Anything expensive goes...

I bought a Kia Sportage last summer, Dom.
It is wonderful but lots of Utang…….:(

Just get her one of those lovely Italian Ferrari's but getting in and out of it at the supermarket could be challenging
Got the Sportage because it is so easy to exit it without pulling myself up with the handle at the top :like:
7 years warranty was the clincher.

Yesterday I bought a second hand Vauxhall Insignia 2lt diesel from a local reputable garage and apart from not being able to transfer my insurance over due to the brokers call centre being closed until the 27th, I got it taxed alright with no hassle.
After the customary party with friends, her indoors announces that she was on early this morning.... And being Xmas Day....... No taxis, or if there is one, it is going to be very late and very expensive....... Well, sod that.

When Back home I went online, and after quick search I found several sites that provide short term car insurance, so by visiting trustpilot I weeded the chaff and settled on a specific firm with good reviews.
£40 for 3 days, comprehensive insurance.........
    Sorted.
The car drives like a dream, and although I would have liked an economical SUV, 2 0r switchable 4 wheel drive I decided to go for a saloon, as I refuse to pay over the odds car tax and fancy overgrown tyres.
60 miles to the gallon, happy days.

As all things in life, positives and negatives for each. Used cars are such pot luck I feel. I've known people who have bought one 10 years ago without a serious issue, or some within a couple of months of driving. Much like me, I bought one and the short years that followed, I paid more than thrice that on maintaining it. Decided to go either Manufacture approved (Main dealer refurbished) or, a low-end new model.

Then again, I must add.. I know very little about cars. What's the immobiliser for? :D

I went with the latter, as we only use one car and my missus can't drive. Bit the bullet and there's tons of decent models now around the lower £11-12k mark. I've not had to think about the well-being of my car as I did with my used ones so much. Serviced and good warranty. At a price of course!
