Hi, has anyone been through the process of applying for a UK passport for their child born in the UK and subsequently applying for a Philippine passport? Will this make the child a dual citizen? Thanks.

If you husband is British and your child was born and registered here then you can get them a British passport.

Again if the requirements I just mentioned above are applicable then you can apply for Filipino citizenship for your child at the Philippine Embassy in London (or an outreach programme). Look on the embassy website on how to apply. If the child is over 1 year old you will also need to apply for late registration of birth.

Thanks @HaloHalo yes, my husband is British. The only citizenship service I can find in the Phil embassy website is to retain/reacquire Filipino citizenship (for dual citizenship) So I assume to apply for Phil passport means applying for citizenship as well?

Does anyone know if we can report the birth at the embassy and apply for passport at the same time? No need to wait for PSA copy the report of birth?

I'm sure someone on the board did baby registration and passport application at the same time and got passport in normal time - about 8 weeks or so. If I have time I'll do a search to find the thread

I thought we can apply for report of birth and passport at the same time (same as report of marriage + passport change name). I have emailed the embassy but got no response, so thank you for confirming @HaloHalo

Thanks @Br28016 for sharing the thread. We will report birth and apply for passport on the same day.

We are in the same case as the op. We plan to apply for child’s UK passport first then Ph passport as we will potentially stay in Ph for more than 30 days. We hope this will work so it will save us time and money by not having to apply for Ph visa for the baby.

I’ve read the link on Balikbayan Privilege and my child will be eligible. Does it mean that I don’t have to apply for Ph visa for my child before we leave UK? Can we apply for Balikbayan Privilege once we are in Ph? I am considering this as an option in case we will not receive baby’s Ph passport before we travel.

Only got balikbayan once and did not use it as left within 30 days.

Will need wedding certificate and baby birth certificate and go through immigration as a group. Imigration should do bb stamp instead of 30 day stamp for husband and baby. Something easy for once but immigration officer at airport potentially needs to see proof of relationship

In the link I posted @Tansy reported back on baby going through immigration with child's father and got the balikbayan stamp for baby so confirms my experience of getting stamp.

Thanks @Br28016 we will use the Bb privilege as a back up. I was not aware of this privilege before, many thanks for sharing this info. Very helpful indeed!

You have to apply for your child's (and husband's) Balikbayan Privileges at the Immigration desk on arrival in the Philippines; it can not be applied for subsequently.

i did.. registered my LO late, so applied for a late registration. they didn't allow me to apply for little one's passport at the same time, because Report of Birth document had to be on PSA paper. I, on the other hand, was able to re-acquire my fil cit, and applied a new phil passport in one seating. I had to request the PSA version of my daughter's report of birth, then applied for her phil passport after 6 months from date of report of birth application. she is dual cit now and we're just waiting for her phil passport to arrive. any child born in the UK, where one parent is Filipino, can apply for dual citizenship.

as for balikbayan priviledge, your spouse and child can avail it when travelling with you and presenting their passports. best to apply for phil passport of your child after your trip, as you will need the PSA doc and personal appearance. If staying only for 30 days, no need for balikbayan peiviledge. Just make sure that you bring with you your child's birth certificate and marriage cert. Just in case they ask for proof at immigration.

Florge tell me more about requisition, how log ago was that? Asawa has a date at local council to swear allegiance to the UK. I understand that Filipinos don't lose their Filipino citizenship any more, hence the questions.

February this year. when we became Brit cit, we have essentially lost our Filipino citizenship, thus the need to re-acquire Filipino citizenship. So after she has sworn in as Brit cit, she can then apply for re-acquisition of filipino citizenship. I waited a few years before I re-acquired my Fil cit.

oh, by the way, when I apploes for the Report of Birth of my child (it was during a consular tour in Manchester), I asked if I can apply for my daughter's Phil.passpprt. I had all the documents ready, and they said I can't because they require the PSA certified copy
