welcome to the site. i suggest you find out for certain if your g/f is married--and if the child's father is named on the birth certificate.

The father may want to share in the raising of his child. ;)

    Welcome John!

I hate to ask a question that is a strong sterotype (forgive me!) but I'm guessing she's not working in Healthcare? My wife works at the John Radcliffe and I know a number of Filipinos who have been able to get a Tier 2 Visa to live & work in Oxford. Although I don't know about Tier 2 Visas with dependants.

He left before his baby girl was born and as far as I know has no contact with her.

Ah awesome! My wife is from Cebu too :) Well hate to be blunt, unless she's your spouse - it's going to be difficult for a long-term arrangement of stay. Tourist visas only last for so long sadly.

Cool I thought that would be better just for the fact her parents can go to the wedding wit the spouse visa would she be able to get a job once she is over here? I can do it on my wage but we will have a better life if we both have an income coming in

We might have to leave amara over there for a while with her parents but that's the goal

Especially with Oxford's cost of living!:eek: We moved away last year after living in Botley for 5-6 years. Nice place.

Really hope all goes well and smooth with your planning, stressful as they can be. Hopefully one day meet yourself & Eden at one of Oxford Filcom's events - she'll feel right at home here :)

I'll probably still earn more than her but with her working we can both pay out for her other visa once she is over here

Ahhh that's a worry for me that her baby girl will get refused a visa she is 14 months old so I'm sure would class as a dependant but you never know.

in our case, my--now wife--came to the UK in 2007 as a mature student. then students could work to support themselves ( and send money home ) this meant leaving her daughter and son--then age 2--with their father. this is not uncommon in the philippines, whether we brits approve or not. years rolled by--my ( now ) wife divorced her husband from in the UK--before her student visa ran out in 2012. by then she had met and moved in with me.
she obtained a fiancee visa in late 2015 and moved back here to the UK and we married in 2016.

she has financed her daughter through uni in the phils--she graduated a few weeks back. the boy lives with an aunt in the former family home.

the boys visa refusal was because ukvi state the father still has joint responsibility for his son...it was something we didnt anticipate so never gave adequate evidence.

it must be considered that any dependant child settling in the UK will place a considerable burden on the state---education and healthcare..and possible future dependence on benefits. so its hardly surprising that immigration will look long and hard at any child application.

now watch the **** hit the fan.
