According to my “smart” phone my car is parked 2.8 miles away from my house. Now either I’ve suddenly lost the plot and started doing stupid things like this or someone very cleverly cloned my car and in the middle of the night moved it to a nearby village. Oh yeah I’ve apparently spent some nights driving 10 miles and back in my sleep in a straight line, over fields trees and houses. Smart phone indeed. I’m surprised PC plod hasn’t had a word about my bizarre driving habits.
My Car is not in "My Car Garage", and quite a distance from "My Car Audio". And I don't even have a car! I am currently located somewhere in the middle of this map.
It's probably unable to see any satellites and so has dropped back to triangulation estimates relative to the cell transmitters that it can see, although 2.8 miles is quite a large error for even the cellular network to make. Which map vendor are you using, is this Google maps? On Here maps my phone GPS is out by 3 metres at the moment on two devices, I just checked Google maps and it nailed it to my exact position.
Apple maps, I have all location settings enabled. I think its just the cellular towers in this part of Wales - a few years ago, Google maps kept showing me bouncing back and forth to the coast at night - a distance of 6 miles, and at the time I was using Android with Google maps.
triangulation... heard that fornthe first time when I was watching Line of Duty.. if this is the case, there is a chance that triangulation may not be accurate
