Hi BF friends, has anyone recently applied for TOC to change their name on their BRP? How long did it take to process?

I have read online that it is anywhere between 8 weeks and 6 months! Mostly more than 8 weeks anyway.

Obviously I cannot be without my passport and BRP for a long time. The premium service is not an option for me as I don’t think it’s reasonable to pay another £500 just to update my name.

Thanks in advance for your response :)

    Interesting.

    • name, for example if you’ve got married
Does that apply only if you change name on passport or if you get married full stop.

Wife is keen to change her name and can cope with philippines id being changed but do not want passport or driving license changed as she is applying for settlement visa. Given a choice I would keep passport name as now until after ILR. Might be worth changing when apply for next passport as she us one year into five year passport.

Your BRP must always match your passport.
For those traveling the world together and wifey keeping maiden name it potentially raises a few questions at Border controls, flight tickets etc, not that it matters overall.

I have completed my transfer of conditions application but I just realised that I may have incorrectly filled up the application form.

I am changing my name into my married name. What name should I use as applicant name? Should it be my new (married) name or my maiden name?

I used my maiden name as applicant name and in the change of personal details section I entered my married name.

Has anyone applied for TOC before? Please can you share how you filled up the form? Thanks!

Yes, my passport is now in my married name.
Will have to make a new application then if that’s the case. Sadly there is no option to cancel and refund unlike in visa application. Seems like HO will keep my money now. :(

On which point when the missus changed her name on the Fils passport renewal it changed her middle name to her previous surname (fathers name) which has confused the UK DVLA
