But nowhere near as scary as the virtual certainty that a mass outbreak of collective amnesia will cause voters to elect BongBong Marcos as their next President and he'll make his mummy very happy indeed by carrying-on the family business of sending trunk loads of cash to feed their offshore bank accounts.

Duterte has just announced that he will bury Ferdinand Marcos in the Heroes' Cemetery, as he promised to do in exchange for Marcos' support, back in March, as "an act of national reconciliation..."

    Yeah, right.

More like an act of cultural impunity.

Edited to add - I see that there is an online petition against this already, because some Filipino friends have signed it.

He isn't having a lot of luck with his Cabinet appointments., of we look beyond his appointments of old mates and trapos. This government is going to be unusually light on technocrats.

Rear Admiral Guillermo Wong, who is notoriously honest, has refused appointment to the Bureau of Inland Revenue, and the former Defence Secretary Gilbert Teodoro has declined his offer to take up the post he held under Arroyo.
