It's tragic if not funny how politicians get away with so much in the Philippines, yet they are duly forgiven many years later. Estrada is one ; removed by People's Power, only to be 'rewarded' by being voted Mayor. Now we have the prospect of BongBong as VP.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, all layers of Government in the Philippines are deeply corrupt and good luck to gunman Duterte if he can sort it all out within 6 months. My prediction? Business as usual.

Can you really blame the Marcos presidency on Bong Bong? He was just a kid back then busy with an education in the UK..

At the start of Marcos' kleptocracy BingBong was being educated in the UK. But he was elected Vice Governor of Ilocos Norte in 1980 whilst his parents were still in power. He was a member of Kilusang Bagong Lipunan, the political party founded by his father until 2010 and his election as a Senator for the Nacionalista party.

This is one leopard who will not change his spots, IMO, and if he's elected as Vice President, then whoever is the new President will need to mind his back.

Having just spent a harrowing four and a half hours watching the slum videos on another post, I'm not sure that Duterte isn't such a bad idea - if he can find the support from fellow politicians, and in deed, if he is as anti-corruption as he claims to be (yeah, righto!)

Somebody needs to grab hold of the Philippines and get it sorted out.

A politician who is not corrupt seldom needs 17 bank accounts. Nor does he explain his failure to declare the more than 200 million pesos that he admitted they contained by saying that the money was all gifts from friends and he spent it all on "happy-happy"!

If I wasn't so busy, I'd do it myself (only one bank account - bugger all in it)

It did occur to me that in order for D30 to keep his promises then the Philippines may once again see martial law..Imagine that with Marcos as VP!! The people get what the people want!!
I witnessed the final few months of Marshall law in 81... Not so bad for us as long as we kept our mouth shut.. I did get one warning once about asking questions ..That was enough.
