Where did you read about this Rob?
I would love to see if it can be fixed with a patch on my laptop.
I installed Win10 before and reverted back to Win 8.1 and put this issue in the "reason for leaving Win 10".
Microsoft must know about this problem.

I've never had a single issue with wireless on any of my ThinkPads, not once.

Yeah some of our guys have gone back but to be honest it works for me and works well and I would not want to be stuck with 7 once it starts to get less support from Microsoft.

From personal experience Mike, I get asked to fix issues with Windows by friends and associates, and just lately, I've had requests to fix wifi problems on W10. Indeed, its happened to me personally, and I've had to resort to calling tech support for the first time ever, and the guy I spoke to seem to know what the problem was straight off. HP have issued so many updates for wireless cards, I think I'm on the 5th update since October last year. Never had this with W8 or W7.

I've sold my TP to my brother, and yes, I never had a problem when I owned it. I have an HP now, but it was nowhere near as good as the TP. I replaced the HDD to a SSD, but because HP units are essentially one piece of plastic, you have to take it apart by removing 21 screws and various other bits just to access the HDD bay, unlike the TP its a simple access bay on the back. Heres a sample video of a similair model to mine:

That's interesting Rob as I have a HP too!
I will have to search for updated wifi drivers!

    Thanks Rob.
I downloaded the wifi driver from HP before I read your link and it is holding up at the moment. :like:

Been using W10 for a couple of weeks now.
Seems OK at the moment, just me needing to get used to a few things.

So far no major issues. Well except 1 issue with an app that needs net framework 4 and won't work with anything else.
After much messing around it seems W10 installs net framework 4.6 or something which can't be reversed.

I'm in the processing of a transfer of everything from one rather poorly laptop to an identical healthy one

I have lost the wifi on many, many occasions Peter.
I have to go to "Network Connections and Sharing" to reset things before I can look at webpages again.
I installed the latest HP driver but things are still very unsatisfactory compared to using Windows 8.1

Mike, is yours a Realtek or Broadcom wireless card? I think you can get a driver direct from them rather than HP. I'll see if I can find a link.

    Rob,
    In device manager/network adapters it shows "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230"
When I check to see if the driver needs to be updated, it says the driver is up-to-date.

Looking on Google, it seems your not alone, and online forums suggest as a fix disabling Bluetooth and/or "changing the advanced power settings of the Wireless adapter to "Maximum Performance" seems to circumvent the issue. Pictorial below.

    If no luck:

Have a look at these 2 Microsoft community pages, see if it helps

Also HP have released a patch (although its for W8, it may/may not help?):
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04037195/

Another link, this one 2nd on list (again for W8, etc):
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23942/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Windows-8-1-?v=t

What your experiencing is exactly the same I had, even though mine is an AMD chipset with a Realtek wireless card. I'm disappointed Microsoft couldn't get something basic like a wireless card right

    Hi Rob,
Thanks for your last post :like:;)
I implemented the two fixes in your first paragraph and things have been really stable Monday and today - no loss of wireless and no blue screens of death.
