This vid is probably not for Timmers ;)
I don't think Roger Taylor played the drums with a pair of underpants on his head
My best friend used to manage Queen in their early days, I will have to ask him this question

They were a bit of a niche, I wasn't a fan at the time to be honest although I did later get to appreciate a Scottish band, Chou Pahrot, who were heavily influenced by Beefheart.

They too were amazing live, I didn't know them directly but a lot of the people I knew were quite close to them.

Not much left from the Chou's these days, this was one of their more melodic pieces ;) :D

    You might be interested Mike.

    The Buzgo Tram Chorus

    Lemons

    Itchy Face

Eggy Beard, the violinist used to perform in a wedding dress :)

    Saw them many times live.

They played the Apollo once as the backing band to some punk group can't remember who, anyway they started out playing with the curtains drawn and lights off and all the punks were going wild, thinkin whit an amazin band :D

Until the lights came on and here's this bunch of long hairs wi a violin and a wedding dress :D

Actually I might be wrong it might have been Mama Voot that performed in the wedding dress, memory is getting faulty, fantastic stage show and very loud.

Thanks Jim, I will have a look a little later.
This is a documentary about Don Van Vliet (Captain Beefheart) introduced by John Peel:

To be honest, I could not get into his more avant-garde compositions like Trout Mask Replica but the first one I bought in '73 was "Clear Spot" and it is still right up there IMHO:

It is here - from 38:30 to 01:15:48

Watched that, thanks Mike, very interesting, filled in a lot of blanks for me but also probably explained why I was not that keen then, I understand his stuff a lot better now. :)

I share my birthday with Alex, and he died a day before his 47th which is the birth date of one of my best pals.

I also worked under a chap named Paul Higgins once upon a time, he was manager of a garden centre in a department store, he was also the keyboard player for Alex Harvey in the band prior to SAHB :D

Quite a character, and he was a fantastic keyboard player, Zal Cleminson once popped into the garden centre to visit Paul can't remember if he bought anything :D

Thanks for these Jim. I could hear the early Beefheart and Zappa influences in them.
