I have been to the Philippines about 10 to 12 times, I don't count them exactly as it would mean going back through old passports.
The durations vary, some were 6 weeks, some four and some two.

When I have been to my wife's island (N. Cebu province), all the young men seem motivated by work (fishermen) and I never once had the feeling that anyone was lazy there.
When fishing became difficult due to encroaching larger vessels some of the young (and old) men went to Bohol to build houses.

I travelled to Manila a couple of times, Olongapo/Subic, Batangas, Leyte, Palawan.
Likewise I never had the impression that Filipino young men were lazy.

When I was a shore rep for seismic vessels, the feedback from the marine and seismic crews were very favourable when discussing Filipinos who were working with them.
When I was a technician on numerous offshore vessels, seismic, pipe-lay barges, rigs etc., likewise never heard a bad word over many years. Some Filipinos were in their thirties, some in their twenties.

As I mentioned, my wife's younger brother grabbed the opportunity to work overseas as a rigger in an oil camp. He left in his early twenties. All he needed was the money for his passport which I provided.
Some of the other younger men left for Sau'di also. There seemed to be a mindset for making the best for yourself there.

The anonymous original poster did not look at the bigger picture in my opinion. I saw endeavour and drive from young Filipino men.

People can look negatively at some aspects, some look positively.
I suspect reality lies between but the thread title is plainly incorrect IMO.

The ones who disagree might have encountered the guys who are very much into hard labor. They're usually the ones from the province. Promdi is what they're called. They know how to farm, to fish, skilled at carpentry, they do household chores better than women and they're not spoiled. They always have to do something, they get bored in the city. I do notice the difference between my promdi cousins and the ones I grew up with here in the city. Big big difference. Again it's how they were raised, I believe.

Here's the exact words of a German filmmaker I had the pleasure of getting acquainted with "Women are the glue that keeps Filipino society together, that - without women - it would all come tumbling down incredibly fast."

Frankly I am appalled at the condemnation of, and racist comments and insults directed towards, the relatives of the Filipina members of this forum, or our Filipina partners. Disgraceful.

I believe a person's growth or development, regardless of gender or race, is influenced by the environment they grew up in and experiences in life - aside from the traits they were born with.

Nothing racist has been said at all.

The op made a valid point which has been discussed well and without bias by members of the forum.

If you wish to disagree then why not make your point, but without being blinded by your Nanny state indoctrination.

Every race is different, for me that is one of the good things in life. :like:

I think I did pay for lifetime membership so I guess we should receive some privileges ;) From the sounds of it, this bulletin is written using spaghetti code!

My wife said when she was growing up all the children did the chores, boys and girls.
Her family is from the province though and location seems to be the deciding factor whether the boys are lazy (city) or not lazy (province).

As a child in the UK, my sister and I did chores around the house as well as our parents.

It's actually pretty good fast well written code, it's just that it has some pretty sophisticated permission combinations that are not obvious unless you sit and muck around with test users, after this move maybe Paul and I will sit around playing with a copy of the site to figure out how all the combinations work.

My comment was meant to highlight my limited over-stretched learning capacity :)

Thanks Andrew. Chris gave me my first negative rating by disagreeing with my first post. And I see he has disagreed with your posts too. He'll see it with his own eyes when he gets here.
I know that there are a lot of things I can be proud of being a Filipino. I know too that not all Filipinas are sincere and could just be as bad as Filipinos. But this one? This rant? This is true. There are a loooooot of them. What I hate the most is them spreading their seeds all around when they can hardly fend for themselves.
