It is cheap but it is also only about a single phone charge.

I was thinking about one of these power bricks until I realised that my Lenovo Tablet has such a high capacity battery that I can use it to charge my phone on the go, just have to make sure the tablet is fully charged all the time.

I bought a Sony 10,000mAh power bank from HK for 300HKD. Its gives me easy 3 charge for my Samsung Note 3 which is 3200mAh battery. :)

Yes, Aldi staff are great, but it is a few miles to the nearest one so I go to Tesco or Lidl. Lidl staff are a miserable bunch. When I go to Tesco I chose the one and only Filipino on the tills!

As for a power bank, I would go for a solar power one - you can find many on Amazon. Don't go for the wind-up type as none of them work! But the wind-up lanterns can be quite good. I have given wind-up lanterns and solar chargers to my wife and in-laws in the Philippines - they really are quite a necessity there and told my wife she must leave the wind-up lantern with her sister when my wife come to the UK to live.

I have had my sun charger for a number of years, and only used it once.
It had been languishing in my Satnav bag until re-discovered thanks to this thread...
The problem is that none of the charging attachments work with a modern smart phone...
That shows how long it has been in my possession...
I remember having to charge my old Sony Ericsson P800 while camping on Shell Island...

Thanks for this, I will be getting some "old man" slippers tomorrow

BTW, did you know the German owners of Aldi and Lidl are brothers.
They fell out hence two chains now.
They keep their prices low. One cost cutting thing is to get the drivers to unload the trailers themselves and use their small battery operated forklifts.
Doesn't bother me as it is more hours' money for us agency bods.
