One will find that the Supa-dupa Sainsbury bargain may not be what one expects, as it probably comes without ethernet connection, thus rendering it near to useless as a smart-ish TV.

    As I thought.

Not to be sneezed at either.

mine isnt a smart tv--but as i already have a talk talk gizmo--i can get 100's of channels--most of which are cr4p.

great tv though--very slim surround--just looks like a slim picture frame. i had already bought a LG sound bar with a sub--which sounds fantastic. but--being LG--it will all self destruct just fter the guarantee runs out.

Yep you can enhance the TV with a small amount of money. NowTV and chromecast spring to mind

We have been using a flat screen 32" Samsung LCD for about 4 years, which was originally in a mobile/TV talk Talk deal, so, in real terms it didn't cost us a penny, and still going extremely strong.
It is not a smartTV, by all means, but It has ethernet and HDMI slots which are well used with various medium of streamlining.
We also have one of those Sony blue-ray DVD set boxes, that gives us the opportunity to look at hundreds of useless channels.......

There are few things I will watch on TV, apart from a Chelsea Match, mainly netflix, or Sony Video Entertainment Channel. I know this last one is a pay-per-view, but I get to see the latest releases, if there is something nice on. And 3 quid and a few bob, don't break the bank..

The phone I use mainly for calls, a few pictures, or catching up with the news if I am bored at the office.... which is normal.

    Why?

You have a Microsoft Surface which you apparently like which is essentially an evolution of the Windows Phone user interface, why do you think a Lumia phone is funny?

I had an iPhone and hated it, I switched to Windows Phone and I've loved it ever since, lovely operating system, stable, fast and far far more pretty than Andriod or iOS, and far more functional as a user interface.

bigmac, you will love it once you get used to it, let me know which model you got and I'll post a couple of hints as to how to configure the UI to get a really nice user experience.

Thats ok mate, as a written medium internet forums like ours require a degree of thought when posting, we all make mistakes or say things in a way that can come over differently when read cold, emotion and intent are hard to convey on forums like this, smilies help but are not always enough.

As for windows phone, it's so simple that there is a very small learning curve unless you have been ruined by some other brain damaged phone operating system already ;) :D
