I was just thinking when I read the above post, it reminded me of when we applied, you are nearly at the end of your visa journey, just the submission and the CFO to navigate after this, and of course the wait, oh yes the wait where we start wishing we had done this done that :)

Before you filled out this online form you will have endured months of stress, collating all the required information, emails bouncing here and there, telephone calls and lots of online chat sessions.

I personally found that I was blinkered to most other things in my life during the visa process, it is a hell of a relief when the visa is granted, only then you start to think of the rest of your life together and get back to the usual concerns in life that we all have :)

I had researched marrying and thought it wouldn't take long to complete :frust:.

I had failed to research the delay of marriage cert and CFO, then CFO before passport married name change.

The supporting documents had been prepared for over 2 months....
I have had to keep sending updates each month, whilst waiting for NSO marriage cert, then Passport.

Luckily my mrs has managed to keep visiting Manila, since from Luzon. It must be a nightmare for those having to travel from afar......

My mrs has a big smile that we are nearly there, but its hard to convince her that its likely not be possible to return with me immediately after new year.....

You are right about the delays, we can research all we like but there is always something we overlook or we come up against British Or Philippine red tape which we can do nothing about.

I'm off to London on Tuesday to get the missus a new passport that expires soon and to get her married name put in the new passport. We think this will be our last little hurdle before we can settle down and not have to worry about visas for a couple of years. I am just starting my own company now so I can just focus on getting that off the ground and not have to worry about visas, and of course my wife will be an employee of the new company helping me with all the associated paperwork :)

Then there is that 2.5yrs visa extension....?

The wife came here on a Fiancée visa in August, married in October followed by the first FLR(M) three days later giving her 2.5 years extension and right to work of course. I had been delaying starting the new company up until we had the first FLR, as the financial side of the application would have changed and I didn't want the headache, I gave my notice in to my employer the day after we got the FLR extension :D

One thing whilst I remember, both myself and @Anne and others here had difficulty paying for the visa online (watch out for this). The VFS site only allows certain credit/debit cards to be used and as the visa fee is over a $1500 it is above a lot of Philippine credit/debit card limits.

Note you can pay for the visa from the UK, you only need the password and username to log into the account and pay.

In my case it took many times of submitting card details before my payment was acknowledged, I was beside myself to be honest, really annoyed.

Watch out for this one, be persistent if you run into this problem whilst trying to pay for the visa :)

    Hello guys,
Hope you are doing all okay.
As for me, I am getting a bit confused with this online application. They don't have guideline notes for easier understanding. I am in the process of filling out the fiance visa form. The thing is, in the Family Details Section, some of the pronouns are a bit confusing. Am I right to assume that all the information they asked on this section e.g. passort number, nationality, family name, given name, date of birth are all about my fiance? Except of course, the parents and the dependent part, that is all mine, right too? I would greatly appreciate any inputs and contributions.;-)

Hello guys! I have problem and i don't know what to do. On my online application form, there is a question there what is the nationality of the person who is living with my husband. His mother and brother is already british citizen but before they are filipino citizen. So i type there "british citizen" but just yesterday as i was checking all my documents to make it sure everything is ok i noticed on our marriage cotract we put "filipino citizen" we got married last year april 21,2014. Please anyone can help me? Do you think this will become a big problem? Thanks

Can you make it a little clearer please, I'm a little confused

Is your husband a Filipino who has been living in the UK and gained British citizenship? If that is the case I would use the additional notes section of the visa application to explain to the ECO that the marriage certificate shows a mistake in identifying him as a Filipino citizen (does he have dual Nationality)? Remember that he will be proving he is a British citizen by submitting his British passport details on the visa application.

If I was you I would certainly inquire into the possibility of changing the marriage certificate as it may cause you further unwanted hassle down the FLR route, it is key after all that you have married a British citizen or someone with the right to remain here to give you the right to come to the UK.

    Its the sentence below that has confused me;

Quote: what is the nationality of the person who is living with my husband

    I hope I haven't confused you :)
