You might have been aware that the U.K. government had been looking at pushing the nation towards a vegan diet and away from meat, on the mistaken idea that animal farming is the root cause of climate change.

    This is very recent news:

“Britain says NO to meat tax

“I’ve been privately lobbying a number of MPs across all major political parties and some with direct influence on the PM on this for awhile and I’m delighted to share that number 10 has now categorically said no to a meat tax!!

‘They urged him to invest in green jobs instead, and give businesses incentives to change their polluting practises

In last year’s Energy White Paper, ministers vowed to create a new UK Emissions Trading Scheme - with caps set on how much greenhouses gases businesses can produce.

It will start with energy-intensive industries including the food industry, electricity generation and the aviation sector, but will be expanded across the economy.

And there are fears that polluting taxes - currently only aimed at heavy industry, huge power generators and gas-guzzling airlines - will be extended to other parts of the economy that aren't eco-friendly too’ “

Watch out for the NHS reforms being announced.

“Ministers believe the changes will put the NHS in a better position to cope with an ageing population and a rise in people with complex health conditions.”

From my view the seeds have already been sown.

I saw the articles on climate tax. There will always being people lobbying for everything - from bringing back 8 track tapes to eating twigs. Doesn't mean it's likely to happen. Politicans have very strong sense of self-preservation and can seldom see past the next election. Given that they have been unable to really bring themselves to legislate on more pressing climate issues, I feel that it's not very likely.

I will fight anyone to the limits of my strength, with resolve, absolute cruelty, no mercy given and utter disregard for my own safety if you stand between me and a medium rare rib eye steak...

I think there has been more to it than that. It hasn’t just been the U.K. government. It has been the World Health Organisation, the European Commision and the U.K. And those companies that sell pseudo vegan meats etc etc for profit. All blaming climate change on ruminants.

I think our government is seeing sense though. Even Boris. Hence a bit of a U turn in policy.

Seems the intent to tax meat by the U.K. government has been real. On the grounds that the polluter pays. For example.

Nothing beats medium rare.......... Looking at all that lovely juicy myoglobin that leaks as one cuts through the meat......

The more cooked the steak, the grayer the meat and thougher.

Well if I cook the steak it is normally medium. If Mrs Ash cooks it, it is blackened. Same for any meat really in our house. :D

For me..... With a twist or two of Black pepper and sea salt, a side of vine grown tomato salad, a leaf or two of basil, tossed with olive oil and sea salt.

Mustard for me is only for ham sandwiches or good old fashioned boiled brisket...
