    For info,
Anyone applying online, you'll need to provide 2 x British Citizen Referees.

Name, Address ( also confirm that have lived at adress for more than 3 years), Date of Birth and British Passport number.

Edit update: All referee e-mail address also required.

As you complete online, only after adding name and date of birth, does it then request passport number.

    Edit update: 2nd July
Even though referee details are inputed online, you'll still need to print off declaration forms for the appointed referees to sign. Additional each referee declaration form will require a passport photo of the citizernship applicant attached.

Hi, can a child on visa on arrival apply for his British citizenship while inside UK? Or does he need to be outside UK?

Proof of long term residence/ documental evidence.

Unlike visa applications, past bank statements and bills are NOT valid as evidence.

It suggest passport, I would suggest include copies of council tax bills (as long as you have ensured your partner is also included in address).

The Citizernship application will create a checklist of documents required,, but it my not actually list all documents that would be required to satisfy all citizernship requirements?

It may be prudent to add documents that will satisfy all requirements according to guidance document.

Past Visa Application info (Application number / date / fingerprint dates).

The online process request past visa application info.
Keep all visa applications handy, the application numbers and dates MAY assist the speed of which the application may be processed?

Applicant Passports used during last 5 years.

To prove total time of abscences from UK during the past 5 years, full scans of these passports will be necessary.

Tip: Keep safe and reuse some of your past evidence used for previous visa applications.

The declaration forms are only available to download once you completed the online application.

Here is link for info regarding British Citizenship Ceremonies.
    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/british-citizenship-successful-applicants

Due to the On-going Pandemic, there are delays and backlogs. The Home Office will still advise if your Citizenship application is successfull, but inform of present delays. Some Local Government Authorities may be conducting the Ceremonies by Video Conferencing?

Despite being advised of Successfull Citizenship Application, you are not able to get a proof of Citizenship until you attend a ceremony and receive the certificate.

The link above gives guidance regarding how the certificate MUST be kept and be acceptable for British passport application.
IF you are not interested in getting a British Passport, then you can apply for alternative usable proof of Citizenship.

We submitted my wife's application around a month ago. She received a confirmation that it was being processed fairly soon after that, with a comment that we may not hear anything for 6 months. Have had a couple of requests for clarifications/further documents so it is progressing. Despite being told she didn't need the English test , when I called up to check when we were filling out the form, the latest is that they now say she does, so have just shelled out another £150 for a test which they say takes 23 minutes !!!!

Presently anyone applying for British Citizenship during the pandemic whilst their local authority has suspended citizenship ceremonies will still be advised by the Home Office if their application has been succesful, however an attendance of a citizenship ceremony is still necessary before British Citizenship status is properly granted.

She is booked in with Trinity College at their Croydon centre, mainly because it was the only one that offered a test outside of her working hours....she is going on a Sunday.....other providers were £190 !!! The requirement is only a listening and speaking test. What is most annoying is we've lived in Singapore, then US for 11 years, and then another 12 here, she works in the care industry here visiting people alone in their homes, and has taken an NVQ here in Health and Social Care........and still they need a very "basic" test, with associated cost, to prove she can speak English !!!!!

Its exactly the same kind of test thats done to obtain a spouse visa Malcolm, an old friend of mine toook hers down in Portsmouth, I know because i drove her across from Bournemouth, its speaking and listening only if this lady already has her B1 then that should have sufficed, but we all know to our cost, these kind of things are simply ways to drag more pounds out of us..
