This survey will help the NHS understand more about how and where coronavirus (COVID-19) is affecting people.

By answering some quick questions, you can help the NHS plan its response to coronavirus.

what i want to know is--if anyone is tested and its positive--does the test show if they are infectious ?

It depends how far into the disease they are.

People can be infectious without showing any symptoms and generally they think that even after symptoms appear that a person could remain infectious for a a few days, people who are struggling with the illness likely remain infectious much longer.

Virus particles are distributed in droplets and in fine aerosols where the droplet size is as small as when you are just breathing in and out, sneezing will generate large medium and small droplets so will coughing, just breathing will generate very fine very small droplets.

and what if the person has had it--and recovered--are they still infectious ?

No they are not infectious after they have recovered because in order to recover they had to produce antibodies which neutralise the virus.

Isn't it for people who have tested positive?

No it is a symptom reporter, you can report that you had symptoms similar to SARS-CoV-2 they are trying to get the bigger picture in the country which will include flu like symptoms.

ive have a sniffy nose--worst when i wake up in the morning...for weeks now. i put it down to hayfever like symptoms. also--a cough--not dry--but not prolonged. certainly not a new dry cough. and i dont think i'm running a temperature..so--no, i dont believe i have a mild infection.
